I just changed the battery in my 2019 Focus and I'm trying to change the model in the BdyCM module, but only a few options appear, and none of them match mine.
The only thing I've done is change it to AGM, which is the battery I have (Varta A7 AGM 70Ah 760A).
I've seen lists with many more batteries; is there a way to update the database or add them another way?
Hello,
Yesterday I scanned my Mondeo 2020 system with Forscan 2.3.70 and under Battery type it no longer shows the option 00- No configurable. In the past the option was there. Do you have any idea? Thanks
Only Forscan support can answer your question. See the website and find the email address and instructions for contacting support (you need a paid subscription).
But... battery type iand.size are NOT critical. It only helps the BCM calculate battery state of charge. Choose a battery that is close. These calculations are approximate, not exact.
With every new release, Forscan gains some features but also looses something, like battery options.
You can find more detailed options for battery types by downloading an older release like 2.3.49 and even older. But, from experience i can tell you that in many cases those listed options don't match with the actual written values.
One 'fix' like i did, is to spend a whole day chating with the AI (Gemini or whatever) and with trial an error mange to find the right as-built code. AI is tricky, it needs a lot of context to give valid answers.
One more thing, i asked at the dealership and they said 2019 ford focus doesn't know how to properly charge an AGM battery, even if you see that option there. Maybe that's why a new AGM battery only lasted 6 months in my case, after that i returned to an advanced EFB battery.
Something to have in mind when changing battery as-built codes: even though it's the same car, the address of the as-built code to modify battery types differs from petrol to diesel to hybrid engines.
Good luck.
