Can't update my APIM on latest version

Post by esqueue »

Hello I am using FORScan version 2.4.3 test with 3 year extended license and still can't get it to download the current firmware on my car. It's a 2017 Lincoln MKZ 3.0t AWD. The latest HP5T-14G371-CGE but it only finds HP5T-14G371-CAG. I can't get calm screen working due to the outdated firmware. The Screen is already enabled in he configuration and I do have internet access. There is almost zero NA cars here so I don't expect help but I would really appreciate it.

1) change the 'Available' to Custom
2) make sure you can select the same files you see under current in the 'to program' selection boxes
--this is so you can go back to where you were when (not if) something won't work out on the first try--

Once you ran through the programming with your original configuration once without issues, get the files you think you need from an online source and manually put them in the 'to program' boxes.
Try again.
If it fails at a specific file, try programming it separately i.e. leave the other boxes blank (always fill the Secondary boot loader with the same, original file).

Thanks for the help. The part that had always given me trouble is knowing what files are needed and getting them to download. When I first installed 2.4.3 it downloaded files that took 10 minutes to install. The configuration file is still the old one and I still can't enable calm screen due to it.

Yes, I am on the paid version, I know how to and have changed the correct asbuilt values. Possibly, it is impossible to get calm screen to work on a NA 2017 Lincoln MKZ as I don't know anyone who have done it.

As far as I understand it, the Lincoln vs. Ford differences are in the as built coding. For my MY17 Fusion Titanium I have the following files and calm screen working:

Strategy: HB5T-14G374-CA
Calibration: HB5T-14G375-CA
Sound Profile: GB5T-14379-AA
Illumination: HB5T-14G379-BA

If you have the files for your original config, you should be able to get back to where you are right now if these don't work.
I had some issues programming this and ended up doing the strategy file by itself. then FORScan populated the other files by itself the second round.

Finally got going but it was difficult. With the default settings on my PC, the OBDLink EX was painfully slow. It went about one percent a minute. After sitting for so long, it would stop working and fail while flashing the strategy file while loading the 5th of 7th block. This resulted in a dead APIM. I kept trying with various results. I updated the OBDLink's F/W, deleted my profile( which was part of the fix) and followed the settings on viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1763 (these changed my programming time from over an hour to fail to around 10-15 minutes to complete success). Some of my files were odd and not typical so the program couldn't find an update. It only allowed me to find the right files after bricking and deleting the profile.

GB5T-14G376-AA ----> GB5T-14G376-AA
GB5T-14G374-CB ----> HB5T-14G374-CA
GB5T-14G375-CA ----> HB5T-14G375-CA
GB5T-14G373-AA ----> GB5T-14G379-AA <--This was an odd one...
