You need to be logged in as root. Type the following in terminal:
sudo -i sudo -s
sudo -i sudo -s

Re: How to setup ELM327 USB driver in Mac OX under CrossOver
Hey ya'll, I am new to FORScan and need your help. Just purchased a 2018 Ford F150 XLT and heard about ForScan through the dealership. Went and purchased the ELM327 USB driver from Amazon and got Crossover installed on my Macbook. I went through the sequence of steps to setup but when I hooked up to truck and ran it on the version FORScan for Windows v2.3.41, but the configuration shows:
Vehicle
Model: Ford Focus
Engine: Zetec
Capacity: 1.8L
Generation 1999 MY
Fuel: Gasoline
Transmission gear: Manual
VIN: FORSCAN
OBDII: On Board Diagnostic II
I don't know what to do from this point.
Appreciate the help.

The Connection dialog is set to Demo and the vehicle you are seeing is the Internal demo vehicle. Remove the Check mark in the Demo Mode box in the About(Gear Icon)General page!aocseph@gmail.com wrote: Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:52 pm Hey ya'll, I am new to FORScan and need your help. Re: How to setup ELM327 USB driver in Mac OX under CrossOver
Thank you. I initially had the demo box unchecked but was getting a "No adapter found. Check connection." I tried it again with your suggestion of re-unchecking demo box and I am still getting the No adapter found error message.
1. I uninstalled and reinstalled FORScan and Crossover (purchased license this time).
2. ELM327 switched to HS.
3. Device firmly plugged in.
4. USB connections look good.
5. Ran everything over again and am still getting the same message.
6. Went to settings in FORScan and tried each of the connection types and in the MS-CAN Support box have "HS/MS switch" entered.
7. Still getting the same message.
Any specific actions or thoughts?

Post the specific Adaptor you purchased from Amazon so we can see what parameters it is using! I am not very familar with Cross Over but when this happens in Wine with Windows crossing into Linux it is usually a COM port driver translation to USB(Linux Hot plug) that is the problem. At any rate Windows programs in Cross Over(have you tried accessing a data thumb drive in crossover) are not getting out to the Mac USB portsaocseph@gmail.com wrote: Mon Jun 21, 2021 4:49 pm Thank you. Also If this MAC is new enough to have Thunderbolt ports make sure that you are not trying to run this through one of those as USB and Thunderbolt are not the same even though the cable looks the same!

The site keeps saying the file is too large.
It’s the blue/orange label that reads “ELM 327 Interface v1.5 Supports all OBDII Protocols” and has a HS/MS toggle switch.

Re: How to setup ELM327 USB driver in Mac OX under CrossOver
I cannot get an OBD2EX to connect using Crossover and Mac OS High Sierra. I followed the steps above exactly and it still does not connect to an adapter. The adapter light is green and I've tried everything I can find to update drivers, etc. Please advise how I can use my MBP to connect to FORScan. Thanks.
