I've heard from friend for FORscan,
and when I've checked the page, I saw it's compatible with ELM327.
I have ELM327 v1.2 (bought it ten or more years ago) and I want to know if my ELM is compatible with this program...

Just bought a 2011 Lincoln Town Car - Been reading some of these forums that I can use one of these to disable the DRL - as I want to install LED Headlights, and the DRL function is not recommended for LED.

Which connector/adapter should I look at?

At the Forscan homepage all of them are recommended to use with forscan, could someone add them to the charts in this post?

All Adapters recommended on the Forscan Products page list will or should be able to do what you are asking! Price and availability(Adapter price, Where it will come from, How long and how much to ship) might be what effects your decision.

Any Configuration has more to do with whether that function has a configurable ability(many of the earlier model years had these types of functions hard wired in hardware rather than software) built in to the module rather than the adapter being able to do it!

The Vgate vLinkerFS will cover PCM Programming on the Older Pre mid to late 2010 FEPS PCM's(Otherwise only available with Fords VCM2 adapter or high end J2534-2 adapters) when Forscan releases that ability but since you are asking about a 2011 Lincoln body and lighting control, that is not likely a concern you need to worry about!

All the adapters you mentioned are Forscan tested and are FTDI/ELM327 based adapters! All of them have internal MSCAN software switching! The Vgate vLinkerFS is the only FTDI based adapter that has the ability the open and program FEPS PCM modules used on Pre mid to late 2010 vehicle PCM's. Your signature shows you may have some of these among your vehicles so that may influence your decision making. Forscan is working on the FEPS signal problem and intends to release a version in the 2.4.x branch with this ability and vgate developed the ability in anticipation!

That ability is probably the only reason to chose the FS adapter over the others(if you have or expect to encounter vehicles with those PCM's) as that is the only thing the others are missing! The MX+ is wireless but not recommended for the 2.4.x branch type of Firmware programming!

Thank you for the response. But I am afraid that I even more confused. This is the one I was looking at

but it has the manual switch - so I was looking at this one:

I do not want to spend $100+ for one of these to do the simple stuff like disable DRL on the Town Car. I honestly cannot think of anything else I might want to do other than if there is a way to have the blinker do a 'lane change' process (5 flashes) when the switch is moved (to a the non-locking) position? Right now it will only flash one time if I let it go.

Not really sure of "WHAT" all I could do.

If it is coming to choice between those, there is no choice but the EX adapter(Developed at Scantool.net with Forscan's help)! Any thing sold at Amazon or any where else under the "FORScan" or Forscan-Pro name is using the name illegally and actually are not adhering even to some of the OBD2 standards and the "newer" model(linked off the main page) with internal switching(most likely poorly wired RTS relay) is reported to be not even switching buses properly! Most of these are based on the older ELM327 pcb boards and cloned Chinese chips (Quite often several revisions older) The main reason they are so cheap!

As far as your original question about Disabling DRL I can't be sure as I have never connected to a Lincolin. All the vehicles I have are Canadian market and we have D.O.T. mandate for compulsory DRL here. The closest I have to yours is a 2010 Fusion. It has no obvious software provision for disabling DRL or for change of the Signal stalk flashes! Being as DRL is a mandate here it is either Hardwired requiring a physical wiring change to disable or it is coded in an AsBuilt block that is locked and there are several in the Fusions BCM 726-AsBuilt address that are coded but Non-configurable or not writable!

If these are available in the Lincolin it will be In the GEM/BCM configuration list as a DRL configuration With drop down options and a Steering column control for the signal flash but that is a guess. If they are available Forscan and the EX adapter will find them!

You may have to search for a Lincoln Town Car enthusiast forum for more information!

Thanks again for all your help. I just realized that I still have my FIXD OBD-II adapter. I thought I had left it in a car I sold years ago. Found it in my office.

Can this thing be used with FORscan? It talks to the app on my Android phone over bluetooth.
