Hey Rob,

From what I remember the key is aftermarket and I can confirm it works from at least 40 meters.
I did not have to change the RTM module, because the two original keys would work like the should 👍🏼

Regards,
Ferdi
Ferdi can you share where you are from?
Yeah sure, I am from The Netherlands and I imported my Mondeo from Germany. Sorry for the delayed reply, I was on vacation :-D
Thanks, just ordered the same key, aftermarket version.
Keeping fingers crossed everything works without changes to RTM.

Hi all

I’m thinking about doing this with my Smax. Do I need to check the mhz of the key before I order one or is the key mhz tuned to the part number?

I have a DD key at the moment so I guess I’m asking if it’s possible to have more than one mhz on that key type?

Thanks in advance

So i got the aftermarket key.
https://m.aliexpress.com/item/100500263 ... f19cBo2eVo

Next step was to add it to my 2019 SMax

I tried all the suggested programming methods but was totally unsucessful.
I tried the steps written, even tried holding the start/stop button at the Last step instead of just push&release.

Hmmmm…come to think of it, the idea is to push and realease the start/stop bitton at each step right, not to hold it down for 5 seconds?
I learned that there might be an issue if the key is 80bit instead of 40bit or something like that …

Different part numbers. You cannot have both, your vehicle would be "physically" set up to use either one, not both.

I had a similar experience with my 2016 Edge. Followed the procedure in the Owners manual, after several tries it eventually worked, I remember the issue was just that I had to wait for longer between steps, especially the last one. Also I remebr the procedure was similar to showing the factory keyless entry code (door keypad) but with one more step, so make sure the factory code appears in the cluster to ensure you were following the correct steps.

From the 2016 Edge Owners Manual:
Displaying the Factory-Set Code
Note: You need to have two programmed intelligent access keys for this procedure.
1- Open the floor console storage compartment lid.
2- With the buttons facing the rear of your vehicle and the key ring up, place the first intelligent access key into the backup slot inside the center console.
3- Press the START/STOP button once and wait a few seconds.
4- Press the START/STOP button again and remove the key.
5- Insert the second programmed key into the backup slot, then press the START/STOP button.
The factory-set code appears in the information display for a few seconds.
Note: The code may not display until after any other warning messages first display.
Programming a Spare Intelligent Access Key
Note: You can program a maximum of four intelligent access keys to your vehicle.
You must have two previously programmed intelligent access keys inside your vehicle and the new unprogrammed intelligent access keys readily accessible. If two previously programmed coded keys are not available, contact an authorized dealer.
Make sure that the ignition is switched off before beginning this procedure. Make sure that you close all the doors before beginning and that they remain closed throughout the procedure. Carry out all steps within 30 seconds of starting the sequence. Stop and wait for at least one minute before starting again if you carry out any steps out of sequence.
Read and understand the entire procedure before you begin.
1- Open the floor console storage compartment lid.
2- With the buttons facing the rear of your vehicle and the key ring up, place the intelligent access key into the backup slot.
3- Press the push button ignition switch.
4- Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.
5- Remove the intelligent access key.
6- Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed intelligent access key in the backup slot and press the push button ignition switch.
7- Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.
8- Remove the intelligent access key.
9- Wait five seconds, then place the unprogrammed intelligent access key in the backup slot and press the push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Check that the remote control functions operate and your vehicle starts with the new intelligent access key.
If programming was unsuccessful, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7. If programming remains unsuccessful, contact an authorized dealer.

I was checking the modules on my powershift mondeo MK5 year 2015.

And there is no remote start option under BCMii module???
Under IPC module there are all the options listed in the first post...

Remote start:
BCMii As-built
726-22-02 (2014+ MY) xxxX xxxx xxxx
0 (Disabled)
1 (Enabled)

Is changing this the same as enabling "remote start" from BCMii module?

I’m having the same issue. All sorted with the key, it’s working a treat, but does anyone have any idea regarding no remote start in the BCM module?

I’ve activated it in the IPC but nothing in the BCM except parking lights.

Thanks in advance,

Do you know if it’s supposed to be the same for S-Max? I tried that option but it didn’t work :/

Thanks again for all your help.
