Here are two links that may be helpful. This first one is interspersed with ads, but if you save it as a pdf, the ads will be gone.

https://ford.oemdtc.com/1648/module-pro ... ln-mercury

This second link I have not tried myself, but it's the same advice about IDS that you mentioned:

https://mhhauto.com/Thread-Change-remov ... ord--71528

When using Ford IDS leave IG key off when IDS is trying to ID the vehicle.
IDS will ask you a few times to turn IG on but just leave it off.
IDS will ask you if you want to try again click "NO".
Still do not turn IG on IDS will ask you to input PCM info and VIN.
Enter the correct vehicle and PCM info (Tear Tag or PCM Part # will do).
Once you see IDS shows the correct info (VIN) program the PCM again
(PMI) and when IDS ask to turn IG key on NOW turn on IG and start
following the prompts to program the PCM with the correct vehicle information.

Thanks dcheddar!

Do i change VIN/program the donor PCM before PATS initialization or is it the other way around?

I was considering doing the PATS initialization first to test the donor PCM before anything else. I also read somewhere that IDS does the PATS but i assume a subscription of sorts with Ford would be needed. Not sure uf thats true.

I am going to pick up the donor PCM today and want to clear up the doubts before heading into this procedure. I must admit, I am tense as i want to get this fixed and move on to getting rid of the vehicle and not enduring more headaches and issues.

What do you think?

Here’s an update,

I updated the older version of Forscan and connected with the latest version. Now, it is able to connect but why under “Configuration and Programming” is the PCM not showing?

The first one on my screen is OCS, ABS, RCM,RCM,IC, ACM and GEM but no PCM. Due to having had the battery disconnected, it has a P1000 (Systems Readiness Test not complete).

Is the above DTC causing the PCM to not show on the config and programming screen on Forscan or is this typical with a dead PCM?

Under service functions there is PCM clear trans adaptive tables and reset all adaptations

How can i get PCM to show on this screen? I want to save the AS BUILT data.

Anyone?

Regards,
Mark

Decided to go with a reputable seller on ebay who offers a used PCM and program the VIN/latest firmware so I will just have to use PATS for initialization and this should take care of this issue

Bit late here, lol
P1000 will not cause issues. It clears itself after emission monitors complete. This code appears anytime the battery is disconnected or the PCM is flashed with new software. (both operations reset monitors)
