Change from 16 to 2.

Hi. I have just moved to windows 10 and now I want to change the latency time from 16 to 2. Can you please explain more in detail how can I do that with the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\FTDIBUS\{Device VID, PID and serial number}\0000\Device Parameters\LatencyTimer

Thanks!

This is the Discalimer!
If you have never worked in the Registry Editor or do not even know how to open it, it would be a good idea to get someone who has experience with it and knows what they are doing, to help!
You are basically doing the equivalent of brain surgery on your computer!

The below PNG Image hopefully explains where it is if you are comfortable with doing this! In my case, I had done all the settings detailed in the first post in this thread and the old ELMSCAN5(ELM327 v1.4) adapter I have, had no noticeable difference in connection speed and the latency reading in the configuration tab(car Icon) was 1 ms less(4ms to 3ms) after this change!

Just be aware of messing up your computer if you mess around with anything else while having the Registry Editor open! Do not do any thing other than editing this setting in the registry! You are on your own if you attempt this!

Thanks! Actually I did the procedure you described the same day I posted my initial message. I was able to change the latency timer from 16 to 2 thru the windows registry. I noticed a minor increase in speed as you also wrote. Thanks again!

USB adapters performance optimization

Post by nzbrakelathes »

What is the main difference between the Vlinker and OBD X units?
I have the Vlinker and was wondering what or which is better and why?
So far I have great results with my setup

vLinker supports FEPS 18V programming voltage output in FORScan.
In simple terms, will offer the correct adaptation for programming similar to J2534 devices without the expense.

Ok so no use to change then?

With the correct adjustments, will work with great speed with a PC and Android device with an OTG adapter.

adapter performance problem

Post by nmckethen »

I'm new to forscan but have a new TCM install going on a 2013 focus. Got the old TCM data downloaded and then progressed to installing the new OEM part. Moved on to program the new TCM unit and got an error message saying "this adapter is not recommended for the procedure. Forscan detected not enough performance of the adapter used. This operation is strongly not recommended! Our stats says that your chance to damage the module is about 50% or greater."

I'm using an adapter that has the MS / HS switch type of ELM327. IF I buy a different ELM327 that's auto will that maybe solve my problem? I'm stumped. Thanks for your help.

I'm amazed, or is it bewildered, by the number of people who can find FORScan to download but, can't find the info on recommended adapters on the same website. Then they come here begging for help.
