Is the Scantool one ELM327 compliant? I followed the link, and it does not mention ELM327.
Scantool adapters are built on their own IC STN1xxx, they are fine for CAN bus (both HS and MS), but have no special adantages against ELM for older vehicles. More than, ELM works better (faster) with some old bus. So for your 2000 F-350 7.3 Powerstroke some good ELM327 (even good clone) with all protocols supported (J1850 PWM, ISO9191 etc) would be optimal solution.
I'd recommend the real ELS27 with bluetooth option; also has USB capability with bluetooth. The adapter is well built and designed. It works with both MS and HS-can.
From our experience, Bluetooth components are more reliable, so Bluetooth is preferable than WiFi. However in some cases you have no choice, like in case of FORScan Lite for iOS that doesn't support any other option except WiFi.
The above is correct for wireless adapters only, as USB is still faster and more reliable than any wireless option.
Today I received a Polish interface ELM327 v3 FORD MSCAN HSCAN - Interface USB Vscan STN1170 company VIAKEN
Super work with the Program FORSCAN tested on Mazda 6 2.0 citd 2003
Thanks FORSCAN for such a great program
Note: Viaken v3 feature is that it supports 3 interfaces at once: USB, BT and WiFi. We have tested one and it really works great via USB interface. But we were unable to make it work stable via Bluetooth and WiFi. Were you able to do it?
Hello, are there any news about compatibility with the Viaken Vscan STN1170 WiFi ?
I want to buy this adapter but I'm not sure if it will work. The idea is to have this adapter connected permanent, so I can connect to it with my iOS device or the Laptop. Otherwise I have to buy the USB version and a separate cheap elm327 WiFi adapter.
