That's interesting - Ford IDS posted to the FORScan forum
There are a few questions - Was that transmission removed and rebuilt? Were OEM parts used?
2020 model correct?
The VCM that was used. Is it the VCM 2 or VCM 3
Is it a clone?
Lots of faults recorded, did the battery voltage drop to nothing or was this an accident victim?

transsmision has been rebuilt (clutch Replacement in 2015)
vehicle model 2013
used VCM 2 , IDS 122.01 - Original & Registered & supported Equipment.
car came with these problems, may be was on low battery, whole procedure made with charger.
no signs for accident.

This part of the VIN must be Euro #########LCS01105
It is suggested you update the software for that transmission.
Instead of a battery charger, use a clean and stable power supply.
Battery chargers are a disaster because of too much AC ripple is forced on the network.
Test the alternator for AC ripple.

Use an oscilloscope for that test.
With a clean supply, clear all the faults but if faults return again, they must be repaired.
When the network is clear of faults, start the adaptation again.
If the adaptation stops, look at the faults immediately and repair them.

I think if you do the Adaptive learning procedure while the car is on a charger it won't work right. Try the procedure with the battery charged but not on the charger. If you update the Module then try to keep it on the charger while updating.

You completely misunderstood what was written. Any Ford transmission that is rebuilt or repaired gets an automatic flash update.
The power supply keeps the model alive. A power supply creates little to NO AC ripple.
The battery charger is no different than a cheap welding machine.
AC ripple from cheap welding machines creates a disaster on the network.
The test also includes the alternator to test for AC ripple.
AC ripple from the alternator is no different than a cheap welding machine.
The adaptation is NOT done with the power supply on the battery.

That other post says that he did that whole procedure while on the charger. And I am saying that it (the adaptive learning procedure) probably won't work right with it connected to the battery charger. So I'm not sure if you're understanding. Anyways have a good one.

I too have had programming issues with some chargers. My work around has been jumper cables and second battery or the car in the bay beside me. Even at service school we have had this conversation many times. Some cheap chargers are really bad.

Recently, I have been having issues with my 2014 Ford Focus not shifting properly and not going into reverse. The TCM is new and passes the test in forscan. However, when I attempt the relearn, It gets stuck on the clutch relearn with the error gear select. does anyone know what this error pertains to? I'm guessing I need a new clutch and possible shift forks. Any help is appreciated!

How many miles on the car? If around 150,000 you might need new clutches. The service might not be completed if you have things running like the ac or if you take your foot off the brake before it says to. Also if your car is charging on a battery charger this service won't complete. You might want to try preforming the 'bcm (body control module) reset' before running the relearn service. Good luck.

@rich935 there is 103,000 miles on the car. I have tried multiple ways of completing the relearn including trickle charging the battery, attacking an extra battery with jumper cables, and leaving it on the charge! Every time it fails on the clutch relearn. P2837, shift fork b position circuit range/ performance code is present.
