FORScan wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2020 3:31 pm If fuel tank is upgraded to greater one, IPC module configuration has to be adjusted to calculate Distance Till Empty (DTE) properly. The change is quite simple, but many of our users ask for detailed step by step instructions for this process, so here we go.

WARNING: Modifying configuration parameters in Module Configuration (As Built format) function and using As Built spreadsheets is not a recommended way. Configuration layout may be different between models/years and using wrong layout may cause problems. Recommended way is to use Module Configuration that lists configuration parameter in a human friendly way. This manual explains how to do it on example of Fuel Tank Size.

Update 2023-06-12: It seems some new 2023MY+ models (like new F-Series P708) only support fuel tank size in PCM. Values from IPC are ignored. Procedure of changing the fuel tank size is almost the same, but the volume is changed in PCM instead of IPC, also the "Fuel Level Source" parameter must remain in "PCM" state.

1. Obtain an adapter that works with Ford. We recommend OBDLink EX.

2. Download FORScan for Windows from our official site:

https://forscan.org/download.html

3. Install Extended License, you can get free 2mo one as described in our FAQ:

https://forscan.org/faq.html#qlic2

4. Setup the adapter (should be done automatically by Windows)

5. Connect to the vehicle.

6. Go to Configuration and Programming and run IPC Module Configuration

7. FORScan will open the list of all configuration parameters available for the IPC module:

8. Number of parameters is quite significant, it may be hard to find necessary one. So please use the filter field at the top of the work area to filter the list by key phrase 'fuel tank':

Note that FORScan will show you 2 parameters, in gallons and liters. It is in fact the same parameter, just displayed in different units for user's convenience. It is not necessary to change both of these parameters, you need to change just one of them, let's select gallons.

9. Select the parameter in the table and open the edit dialog box either by clicking twice with left mouse button on the parameter, or by pressing "Edit selected" button:

10. Change the value as you need, for example to 55 gallons:

Image

and press OK button.

11. Note that FORScan only changed parameter in gallons, same parameter in liters remains unchanged. It is OK, not necessary to change the second parameter. Press Write to write the changed parameter to ECU:

Image

12. FORScan will ask to confirm the change:

Image

Press OK to confirm.

13. This step is required for 2020-2022 P558 F-Series only:

Change Fuel Level Source parameter from PCM to IPC:

and write change to the module.

14. Optional step: it is recommended to re-run the function to make sure the parameters have been really changed.

Is this the same process in a 21 f150? I troed changing it to 36 gallons in the ipc. But nothijg chanded as far as my dte etc.

I’ve updated tank capacity to 227 liters/60 gallons but DTE didn’t change. I changed Fuel Level Source to IPC and DTE changed to zero (0) with a full tank? Anyone figure this out yet? I went through this process on my 2017 a few years ago and it worked great.
I am having the exact same problem with my '25 F250 6.7 diesel. This appears to no longer work and there appears to be no support for it.

When I change the parameters in the IPC mod to 55 gallons, and the IPC Level mod to PCM, my DTE goes to zero with a full tank of diesel.

Disappointing.

Having this same issue with a 2024 F250. After change the DTE went to "0". I had filled the tank up just prior to making the change. As I drive the DTE incress one mile for each mile I drive. I am assuming that the truck is learning as it goes. Any ofther thouighs???

I was able to do a 25 6.7. Just to be clear- you need to make the change in the PCM- do not worry about the IPC- the PCM only parameter change became the way to do it when Ford changed the GWM to a remote location.

Did the DTE show correctly?

I did this on a 25 Ranger Raptor and changed the fuel level source to IPC now the DTE is jumping all over the place as I accelerate or deccelerate. does anyone know the asbuilt code on the PCM to change for a 35gal tank upgrade

I have this same issue, but on a 2024 Ranger Raptor.
I see there is a plain text PCM module edit for the f150’s and super duty to change tank size in pcm.

I don’t have a plain text pcm showing up at all, only the as built.

Is there a known address in the as-built for adjusting the tank size? Or is there an update for the ranger to make the change in plain text?

Thanks

Really need some help. I just upgraded from a 34 gal to a 60 gal tank. I went into to FORSCAN to update, but both liters and gallons are set to 0/0.0 and Source is set to PCM and it is showing the right DTE for the old tank. If I change either or both of the liters/gallons to 227/60 and the Source to IPC, my DTE reads 0. What am I doing wrong?

In IPC source should be PCM , Make the gallons change in pcm (liters will automatically change)

fdny136...that's exactly what I did and my DTE says 0. The problem is the liters and gallons are already set to 0 when I login with Forscan. If I try to change either of those values with changing source to IPC, my DTE says 0. Is there a block I can change in the AS BUILT module?
