Hi,
it´s possible add climate control on sync 3 screen having manual climate ? in the focus mk4 ...if yes, how ?
thanks
I have not tried, but with my experience, you should have electronic climate controls to control the climate through the screen.
An interesting experiment would be to change the controller from manual to electronic, but you should do your research about that. In theory, even the "manual" controllers are controlling the climate "electronically", but due to the hard rotating buttons, they give this limited functionality.
I suggest first to try to add the climate controls in the screen, so you can see by yourself. If it doesn't work, it's only a few clicks from getting it back to factory.
Then if you want to go for the controller change, just do your research. An electronic controller should be around 140-180 euros. So, if you are willing to take a risk, you can buy one and check it. Please note that it may need to be programmed with the VIN of the car, since many modules keep the VIN and some even the mileage of the car.
The only thing that I would be careful in your case, is the need for extra sensors in the car, so they can sense the car temperature.
In any case, it all depends on how much money are you willing to risk and if you have the skills to pull it through.
In my opinion, electronic climate is a bit overrated. I find myself keeping my climate in manual setting, since I've noticed that I didn't have comfortable control and sometimes it was too cold and the next time too hot, although I had my climate at a specific temp and automatic fan speed.
Cheers.
