After riding the struggle bus trying to connect for a few days and not finding any really solid actionable information I wanted to share my journey with you all in hopes to help others.

I just purchased a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT/SC (2nd owner). This is a vehicle that gets a tune loaded on it when the supercharger is added. It is a Roush 2.6 - but has Shelby badges instead of Roush. SO when hooked up to Forscan I get the "not identified, put in the part number or strategy number".

Step one - find your Part number for the PCM - it is the H/W number. (Mine was JL3A-12B684-CA )

Step 2 - don't bother typing it into the Forscan tool - it will not work.

Step 3 - pull you "As Built" file from Ford here - Download it : https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

Step 4 - open it with notepad on your computer (you may have to look for "all files" when opening it and not just "txt" files.)

Step 5 - Use the "Find" function (Ctrl-F) and have it search for the 6 middle numbers of your H/W number - in my case it was 12B684.

Step 7 - once you have that located look for the 2 other numbers following it - in my case it looked like this:

"<F111>JL3A-12B684-CA</F111><F113>JR3A-12A650-ABA</F113><F188>LR3A-14C204-AVA</F188><F18C>7864016392293</F18C></NODEID><NODEID>706<F110>DSH1BT-19H406-AE</F1"

The Bold number is my hardware number - the 2 numbers after it are underlined above(I added the bold and underline for clarity - it will not be in your notepad). The 2nd one :LR3A-14C204-AVA was my strategy number. Try the 2nd one in Forscan and see if you can successfully connect. If not try the other number. BOOM Done. :D :D

That was very smart thinking and opens a few doors with members that struggle in that situation.
