vLinker FS USB with WinXP working driver??

Trying to get our vLinker FS USB to connect with Forscan on an old winXP laptop.

Have tried the driver file from Vgate https://www.vgatemall.com/downloadcenter/ driver 2.3.0.02.zip as well as the driver mentioned in the VlinkerFSB instructions from https://ftdichip.com driver 2.12.36.4 for win32 with neither being successful in recognising the device.

Plugging the device into the laptop it is recognised by winxp and tries to add it as a new device that then brings up a driver install request but trying both drivers from the above sites does nothing.

Any help appreciated.

For XP you have to be using the older Virtual COM port Drivers (VCP) drivers. Specifically version 2.08.24 which is available here: https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/, Scroll down to the "No longer supported" section which will contain the last driver package that FTDI developed for XP before Microsoft ended support for XP! Use the Executable installer!

I also have an old XP install and this worked for me!
