2012 Ranger PX - IPC U2300:55-2A & U2300:56-28

Post by Chucklez »

Hi All,

I have just fitted an engine to a 2012 ranger i bough second hand (with no engine) and after getting most of the intitial faults cleared, im left with the following under IPC:

U2300:55-2A: Central Configuration
U2300:56-28: Central Configuration

I was wondering if anyone could possibly shine some light on what this fault is and how one would usually rectify it?

From my research so far it is suggesting that the configuration of the IPC is invalid, however i have checked over the config from master and backup and both are the same, I have also checked against the downloaded "as built" config.

Thanks,

Charlie.

UPDATE:

I have narrowed down the issue to the factory trailer module,

Updating the following value in configuration for BCMii (Main) and IPC (backup) from "05 - Trailer Module 13-position socket" to "01 - Without trailer module" resolved both faults (U2300:55-2A and the related U2300:56)

As soon as I change the value back to "05 - Trailer module 13-position socket" the fault re-appeared.

For reference the trailer module connected is "FoMoCo Tow Module ASSY (TTM)" part number "AB39-14B192-AB".

Has anyone had exprience with these modules - Do they require some type of programming or anything additional to work?

Thanks,

Charlie.

Hey Charlie,

Just saw your posts and wanted to mention I installed that tow module after-market in my 2012 PX Ranger, and only had to change that one value you found "05 - Trailer module 13-position socket". So it should, and can be, as simple as that. I had no issues at all.

https://www.dtcdecode.com/Ford/U2300-55 - A Central Configuration related DTC like that may indicate a module(s) is requiring you initiate the calibration/init service procedure after you've updated the CC. I would guess a change like a trailer capability may require the ABS, TCM, or PCM module to know about it? Might be worth checking there in case the value hasn't promulgated through to them automatically.

Good luck.
Rob
