Immobiliser fault after programming 2nd hand BCM

Hi There

I'm new to the forums, but have been using FORScan a little over the last couple of years. I should have read through more thoroughly, but I thought I had it sorted!

I accidentally shorted out the power wires to an aftermarket Android head unit whilst trying to solve the aftermarket canbus fault. This looked to blow the BCM output, as there is no power to the radio harness. I checked and rechecked the fuses many times!

So I bought a used BCM from eBay, same exact part number. I saved the backups of the BCMii modules with the "As built" and "configuration" files, swapped over the BCM and have uploaded the original files to the new BCM. All this looked to work ok.

However I just get an immobiliser warning flashing on the dash, and it won't start. I thought that this would reprogram the new BCM with the correct settings of my original keys. I've obviously done something incorrect here.

Please can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks

The replaced BCM is not recognised by the PCM or the IPC which is the module that contains the Key transponder signatures!

You would need to find PATS Programming in the Service procedures(Wrench Icon) and it Is likely in the IPC Service procedures!

In that Procedure there should be a process called "PATS Module Initialisation" which needs to be run when ever a Module involved in the PATS process is replaced(PCM BCM IPC and in some vehicles ABS)! In the case of the IPC replacement a full PATS erase and Key reprogramming would be required!

In this particular case, a PATS Module Initialisation or "PATS parameter reset" as Ford calls it, is likely only required to match the PCM Calibration and the IPC PATS transponder signatures with the replaced BCM!

The PATS process in this vehicle will require a Paid license and is likely "Coded" and will probably need a valid internet connection while connected to the vehicle, to obtain the Incode from an online server generated from the vehicles Outcode in order to gain security access!

See this topic on PATS Initialisation: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1500 and this on PATS programming : viewtopic.php?f=6&t=839

Hope that helps?

If you anticipate utilizing Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) functionality (programming keys/parameter reset or module initialization) on any of the vehicles listed below, you are required to be to an automotive security professional that is registered with the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) Vehicle Security Registry. For help with your vehicle security credential, please contact the NASTF Vehicle Security Professional help desk at 810-289-4809 or email support@nastf.org.
You MUST provide a valid Vehicle Security Credential (VSC) Id and Passcode when using PATS after purchasing the subscription.

Starting Model Year:
2013
Fusion, MKZ
2015
F-150, Edge, Mustang, MKC, Focus, Focus BEV
2016
Explorer, MKX, C-Max
2017
Ford GT, Continental, F-Series Super Duty, Escape

Forscan may be able to do it.

Yes forscan can do it. I did it go into PATS and do reset not program takes 20 min
