Hello Guys, i need help because i wanted to update my PCM firmware to newest level and after starting programming it went everything wront.

After that PCM not working anymore.

I tried with Original UCDS and newest Version, also nothing.
Tryd to programm with dead Moduls…

Please help me Guys

You need to do module recovery with the ORIGINAL firmware, do not use the new firmware as that isn’t compatible with your pcm.

Forscan may say there is a newer firmware but you need to make sure the hardware ID is the same between the new and old firmware before trying to program or you end up bricking the module.

Can you help me going threw the process?

So i cant anymore load the car over Forscan.. because the PCM is bricked.

There is a Screenshot before updating.

When you try and connect to your car and it fails, forscan gives you the option to load a profile, select your car from the list (hopefully you saved a copy of your cars profile), after you select your car and it loads (don’t worry about the pcm errors), go to programming and select your pcm, forscan will try and connect and say it couldn’t read the pcm and will use the saved info in the profile. When you get to the programming screen make sure all the boxes match what your pcm had, select recovery at the bottom of the screen and follow the prompts. That should get you back to factory firmware and the pcm unbricked.

Note:I’m not at my computer so I’m going off memory.

So i tried to connect my car, its unable asking for Part number PCM - then i enter it and nothing…

I saved Profil but cant open it. Maybe ist not the full profile

use a battery charger and restore old files using the backed up car profile

I restartet ForScan then it asked about my previous Cars.
Right now im Programming.



But what firmware can i update now?

So Guys everything good now, recoverd to the old Version of the Car.

I need help because i want everythin up 2 date because the car has terrible Configs. The AWD is not good programmed the BCM have some stupid configurations i think or it should normaly with the update gone. Also headlights and everything.

What modules can i update and on which Firmware?

I don’t recommend updating just for fun as that can cause more issues than it can fix. This isn’t windows where updates apply to every computer and setup.

Now I’am one that does updates just for fun but I won’t update a module unless I have the original firmware to revert back to incase of issues or bricking, also you want to save the as built data for each module before hand as updating can mess up the as built.

Before updating a module, make sure the hardware ID/number is the same, if it’s different then the chance of successful updating will be low. Generally the last letter of the file being a few letters lower will work, example old firmware ends in ABC, new firmware ends in ABE will update just fine from what I’ve experienced, if the firmware ends in CAC then that’s usually a major change and it may not work.

So make sure before you being:
Have original firmware
Save original as built data
Are the hardware ID the same
Is the new firmware a small update or a major revision
Can you afford the downtime/cost of a new module if it goes bad?

If all the above is good, then give it a try but ONLY update one module and test that everything works right before updating the next so if you have a problem you know what update caused it.

From your list I would say the TCM and AWD should update ok.
