Reading Forscan Results

Hi all I've just posted my Forscan readouts on http://youtu.be/nE5_Zxr9dGs its for a 5.0l v8 ford Windsor just wondering if anyone can give me an opinion on my rich running problem.

FORScan v1, wow :) Why not v2?

Regarding the readings: what are signs of the "rich running" problem? Rough idle? Do you get any DTC error code ?

We see that the engine works in open loop on idle (LONGFT1 and LONGFT2 are zero) and switches to the closed loop only when you increase RPM. Not sure if it is normal or not, may be it is OK for US market engines. Engines for EU market switch to closed up immediately after warming up, no matter it is idle or load. SHRTFT1 and SHRTFT2 on idle show rich conditions, but not too high (+/-8% considered to be OK). More interesting is difference between SHRTFT1 and SHRTFT2 - seems to be too significant. Would be interesting to see SHRTFT1, SHRTFT2, LONGFT1 and LONGFT2 on 2000 RPM.

Possible reason - leakage of one or several injectors (fuel comes to cylinder even if injector is closed). This may cause rich conditions on idle. When RPM is increased or engine is under load, amount of seeped fuel becomes insignificant (in total amount of injected fuel) and doesn't affect normal work. Another sign - hard start of hot engine.

Thanks for your reply, the rich condition seems to be at idle which results in smelly exhaust but otherwise smooth idle and good drivability. I did a mileage test and got about 11.5l per 100kms (90% highway 10% city) which seems ok for a 5.0l efi Windsor ford. And no codes, the car is driven in the 1000 to 2000rpm range so I'm looking to get it running clean in that rev range.I'm thinking injectors on the right bank as well, according to those in the know It should go to closed loop after 30 sec at start up. I will do another one at 2000rpm for you to look at. Also engine starts well hot or cold, the main thing is rich stinky exhaust and using excess fuel in the 1000 to 2000rpm range. Where do I find Forscan V2?.Bret

Downloaded V2 and now it refuses to connect?? V1 worked fine any ideas?

If v1 works, V2 should work as well. What is the error V2 displays? Please set all connection settings to Auto on the Settings page and try again.

Cannot connect to vehicle . I have blown the interior light fuse since I used it last so I will fix that and see what happens.
