Recall of vLinker FS USB from the list of recommended adapters
Recall of vLinker FS USB from the list of recommended adapters
In the last few months, support has started receiving complaints from vLinker FS USB users about connectivity and stability issues with the adapter. Vgate attributes this to the fact that some new computers have USB3.0 hubs that are not fully backwards compatible with USB2.0, resulting in the chip in the adapter not working properly. Unfortunately, there is no progress in solving this problem, and the number of complaints is growing.
Compounding the problem is the fact that Vgate support is frankly bad. People complain that they don't get answers or that they get them with a long delay. For example, it's New Year's Eve in China and they have stopped responding altogether. That is, the attitude to users and partners is unsatisfactory, to put it mildly.
Despite the fact that the problem is in the adapter and not in FORScan, for obvious reasons users complain to us. For our part, we are unable to fix the problem and cannot force Vgate to do so. Then users have a question: if this adapter has such serious problems, why is it on the list of recommended adapters on our website? The question is a reasonable one.
Due to the above, we have decided to remove vLinker FS from the list of recommended adapters for FORScan for Windows. It doesn't mean that you should throw away the adapter you have already bought - it works fine for the absolute majority of users and will continue to work fine. FORScan will continue to support this adapter. But we won't recommend it anymore at least until the vendor solves all the described problems.
Update 2025-05-30: manufacturer has solved the problem, new version of the adapter was successfully tested. vLinker FS has been returned to the list of recommended adapters.

Re: Recall of vLinker FS USB from the list of recommended adapters
Dang! Totally makes sense as to why I was able to find and order one via amazon at a seriously discounted price. I suppose the fact that I received it not only in an unsealed box but also with mangled packaging, and the adapter sort of shoved right back in there. Sent that puppy straight back to them!
Thank you for the heads up!

Did you try it out on a USB3 port to see if it works before sending it back @Burkely13?.Burkely13 wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 3:15 pm Dang! Negative. I didn't even mess with it. There really was no point at all tbh, the thing came delivered to me with some pretty obvious wear and tear. So back to Amazon it went...Donny wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:34 pmDid you try it out on a USB3 port to see if it works before sending it back @Burkely13?.Burkely13 wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 3:15 pm Dang! Re: Recall of vLinker FS USB from the list of recommended adapters
It is more than 3 years ago that I bought the vLinker FS USB from Amazon. And it never worked with any of my 2 laptops.
I did a lot of experiments with different ports (usb3, usb2), reinstalled drivers, to no avail.
The workaround was to hook it to a cheap usb hub, then connect the hub to the laptop, and voila everything worked, and works ever since.
So there is definitely some issue with the adapter.

Regarding the compatibility issue between vLinker FS USB and a few MSI brand computers:
We are very sorry, due to the Chinese New Year holiday, we did not solve the user's problem in time.
1. We found that there is a compatibility problem between vLinker FS USB products and a few MSI brand computers in the process of high-speed communication, which can be solved by USB HUB bridging, Please contact us to apply for a free USB HUB to solve the problem.

If you can´t fix it - don´t break it
Re: Recall of vLinker FS USB from the list of recommended adapters
I have received my "replacement", vLinker FS USB from Amazon and spent a bit of time with it this afternoon. Seems to work great on my surface laptop. So no complaints from me either!
