I received the USB HUB from Amazon and tested it. In my case it worked very well.

Is it advisable to update module firmware or write asbuild with USB hub +vlinker connected?

There is no need to add HUB when programming, the problem found so far is only a few computers of the MSI brand, and there will be problems when reading data and the computer recognising the serial port. If you have a problem with your computer, you can always contact us and we will solve your problem: support@vgate.com.cn

I also never had any (!) issue with my Vgate vLinker FS USB upgrading module firmwares using my "vintage" Lenovo ThinkPad X201

On a side note, I frequently check for available firmware upgrades at https://www.vgatemall.com/downloadcenter/ and apply them whenever I notice a new one is released.

Cheers,

Good morning, I'm currently testing the modified vlinker sent to me for testing by the official vgate support, on my MSI Modern 15 h ai c1m notebook, the firmware version is still 2.04 but the cable has been slightly shortened, probably to avoid interference. Module scanner was successful and DCDC firmware update of my Mondeo Hybrid was successful!

Forscan staff can contact me and provide further technical information of my tests.

Thanks to vgatemall for the collaboration.

The problem with the vLinker has nothing to do with it not being able to program modules, it can do it. The problem is the inability of the MSI USB 3.0 ports to successfully recognise the vLinker & communicate with it. Great to see VGATE are working on a fix for the cheap MSI laptops.

FORScan don't monitor the forums posts. If you want FORScan to view the data, you will need to send an email to support & attach the debug data.
Email address is just above the instructions on sending the debug data.

We are not interested in it. There are 2 known problems with vLinker FS USB:

1. Bad support - people are unable to get support from Vgate periodically. This was not a single complaint, but mutiple complaints from multiple users on different issues and different times. This means serious problem with business process. We have no any verified information that this problem has been resolved.

2. vLinker FS USB adapters have problems with USB3.0 (not sure if it is MSI only or may be some other brands as well - we have no reliable information about it). Vgate knows the procedure - if the problem is resolved and new version of they adapter is released, the following must be done:
- - The adapter must be sent to us for testing, so we could perform full testing of it
- - Vgate should provide links to the new adapter for sale
- - Vgate should provide procedure for existsing users that use old version of vLinker and experience the problem on how to replace their defective adapters. The offered solution to get a hub for free is not a solution but workaround, in our opinion.

Unless all these problems solved, we will not recommend vLinker FS USB to our users. Nevertheless, formally this world is free so everyone can use everything. vLinker FS USB is great adapter while it works, and outperforms competitors on certain parameters (for example, FEPS feature is still quite unique). But we will not take any responsibility for any possible problems with it.

I had a conversation with a guy from vgatemall support for about 20 days, probably because I offered to test their adapter with hub so they proposed me to try the new modified version, they were kind, this is my feedback.. I hope they can read what you have indicated and that they can contact you as soon as possible to explain the latest tests and their results. Thanks also to you from forscan for the wonderful work you do with this software. Thanks!
