I'm trying to enable cruise control on a 2006 ford e-250. When I go to write the module, it says
unable to rewrite VID block
This type of ECU has VID block integrade into the module firmware. As a result in many cases the module firmware has to be uploaded in order to rewrite the VID block properly
would you like Forscan to start the module firmware update function.
When I do this, it starts to download the files but It says file not found. see attached photo.
any help would be appreciated
unable to download firmware files

Re: unable to download firmware files
No photos attached. The VID error is normal because it can't write the VID block unless it erases the VID block & firmware.
Make sure you save the VID block as a file & also have a saved vehicle profile. If you make a mistake after you erase the ECU, having these will help you recover the ECU.
After you get the VID programming error, you will get the screen that shows the firmware files needed. If any of these have a box that is red, you are missing a file & should NOT attempt programming. Use the download button at the bottom of the screen to download the files.
When FORScan has the files saved in the calibrations folder, the boxes will go green & if you told the VID to write, it should be greyed out & say PRESET.
Only then is it ok to proceed.
