DPF pressure readings Transit 2.2 Duratorq 2012

Post by colinlees »

Hi, have searched for previous posts on this but can't find any. Having recurring issues with the EML light coming up for a few months. Garage have done at least 2 regens, changed sensor and DPF (1 month ago) Light still coming on.

Looking at readings on Forscan and it shows 2 DPF pressure sensors, but when running I only get a reading from sensor 1, sensor 2 staying at 0. Should I be getting a reading for this sensor? Also fuel consumption has gone up, reset MPG at DPF change, gone from 30.7 down to 28.5.

Any thoughts/suggestions welcome as the light is coming on, and going into limp mode after only a mile or so after clearing DTC's

What codes are you deleting?
Lots of reasons why a DPf won't regenerate.

Haven't noted the exact codes down but 244 (possibly 243) a and c from memory. DPF soot loading too high, differential pressure too high. have used the dashboard to monitor some readings while engine running. Coming up with Exhaust gas temp 1000c even when engine cold and not running - seems stuck on that reading. seen this reported elesewhere, is it a default error reading? Also EGR valve position reading 100% while command reads 0%, returning a -100% error reading - does this indicate a stuck EGR valve?
When I get a chance tomorrow will reread codes and note down to update on here.

Why not start by changing the garage you use! Get it to a garage that knows the system, has the correct test gear instead of changing parts at a guess. All at your expense. Sorry i don,t mean to be rude, but i see this sort of thing every day.

How did you end up? Did you fix the problem?

any solution for P244D? Car service cost more than the car, and it still won't run...

If you have high differential pressure then the dpf is either blocked, the sensor is faulty or the tubes going from the sensor to the dpf are blocked or partly blocked.
Differential pressure should not go over 2 psi or 14 kpa roughly, lower is better.
Faulty temp sensors can cause all sorts to happen, maybe investigate that more.

Prove the pressure sensor pipes are clear. Disconnect th differential pressure sensor and the single Exh pressure sensor and run the engine to make sure you have a discharge from all three pipes.
I heard of somebody poking a bike brake cable down the pipescand using an electric drill to clean the pipes and it worked. You can also add a mixture of washing up liquid and water down the pipes and let it soak over night as this solution melts carbon which is what they are blocked with.
