decoding As Built

Post by miles5600 »

Is there a way to make my own As Built data decode sheet?
how would I even begin to decode the As Built? there's little information about the fiesta mk8 As Built available.

No. You can't reasonably decide as built data. The spreadsheets are probably made by people that have Ford IDS. They can make an IDS change and then compare before and after As Built. This is very time consuming and requires looking at multiple modules depending on the function

You may be able to find as built settings for a specific function, like turning on the compass in your cluster. You need several as built files from cars with the compass and cars without. You find the different as built settings and test them.

It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Seriously.
I discovered couple of features, doing what Don Ridley suggested, multiple AsBuilt files, with and witout a feature we are looking for. I even created a tool for massive compare between two set of AsBuilt, which helped me a lot.
Spreadsheets you can find, mainly for US cars do not match EU or other cars. However, some modules are similar (but not identical), sometimes it gives a hint, sometimes is confusing. I try to see if number of positions is identical, if some data matches. Many times it does. E.g. we were looking for code to unlock rear kelyless entry. Maveric has similar BCM to Focus/Kuga. There was a byte holding this settings, but bits were different. So, I did massive compare and found difference in this byte but on different position. It is always an investigation.

Make a copy of as built for EVERY module before you make any changes.
