This is why I've been asking so many questions in different places, as different people tell me different things. I cannot afford to screw this modification up.

If I get stuck, would you be available to remotely dial into my laptop and assist me? I'm happy to pay for your time.
Send me a PM if you want. You will need to do a few things in advance eg download the driver & J2534 API for the OBDX ProFT so it's ready to connect to FORScan.

Hi Mate. I got the new tool and went to update the PCM VID settings and it popped up with this message:

Unable to rewrite VID Block.
This type of ECU that has VID block integrated into the module firmware. As a result, in many cases the module firmware has to be uploaded in order to rewrite the VID block properly.
Would you like Forscan to start the module firmware update function and finish rewriting the VID block?

What should I do????

Obviously I want to make sure I haven't missed anything before I proceed.

If the option is there to save the VID as a file, do it.
The message you are seeing is normal. FORScan needs to move onto MFU in order to erase & reporgram the PCM VID & firmware. You will need to use the download button to download the required files. Red squares change to green to show you have the files & are ready to proceed with programming.

Success!! Thank you so very much mate. You've saved my mum from having to continue to use public transport for her doctors and hospital appointments.

How can I possibly thank you enough?

Regards
John.

Hi,
I have a 2003 BA Falcon wagon and put a 2005 Fairmont Ghia PCM into it. Got everything working ok, but when I went for a drive discovered that when travelling at 60kph the speedo only reads 40kph. Do I need to install new VID files (whatever they are)? Cannot see PCM in configuration menu on Forscan. Have the VGATE VLINKER FS USB OBD2 ADAPTER from OBD2 Aust.

Re, Cannot see PCM in configuration menu on Forscan

See if deleting the existing profile will help ...After you done...Restart Forscan.

The standard tyre size for a 2003 BA Ford Falcon Wagon (XT or Futura) is 215/60R 16.

The standard tyre size for a 2005 Ford Fairmont Ghia (both BA II and BF models) is 225/50R 17.

Based on the standard specifications for a 2003 BA Falcon wagon (non-turbo, non-XR), the standard rear axle ratio is typically:

3.45:1 (Often paired with the 4-speed automatic or manual transmission for base XT models)

The 2005 Ford Fairmont Ghia (BA Mk II) generally came equipped with a 2.73:1 axle ratio as standard.

See if this will help you ...Any changes ...Make sure you write down...Before and after !!!
