I am unable to connect to the vehicle on my newly acquired, FORScan extended life
I have turned the key on when prompted but it just won't connect.
I'm using an FTDI Adapter ELM327 v1.5, brand new unused as yet.
The adapter connects, but no connection to vehicle.....
What am I doing wrong ? or what have I not done with configuration ?
I'm at my wits end here !

Re: Unable to connect to vehicle with FORScan
Your first mistake is buying the unsupported ELM327. Toss it in the bin & buy a vLinker FS USB cable. They are a very good adapter & not expensive. Much faster & more reliable that the cheap crap old chinese clone ELM'sRocky142 wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 6:29 am I am unable to connect to the vehicle on my newly acquired, FORScan extended life

You might get it to connect if you switch it from MSCAN to HSCAN but I wouldn't be using it for anything more than reading & clearing DTC's

Thanks for responding, I've only just purchased this OBD adapter, cost me $58 and had to wait 2 weeks for it to get here.

Re: Unable to connect to vehicle with FORScan
That was a bad investment, they can be purchased for less than $20. The vLinker FS is far superior & it is very clear on the FORScan website that ELM327 are no-longer supported.Rocky142 wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 7:02 am Thanks for responding, I've only just purchased this OBD adapter, cost me $58 and had to wait 2 weeks for it to get here.
Of the supported adapters, I have found the vLinker FS USB is the better choice & the only one to support 18V FEPS programming which is required for programming Falcon PCM's & many others. I have owned & tested the OBDLink EX but gave it away & binned the ELM's I owned before these came along.
