Hey all,
Recently just got a New/Reman transmission from ATK Performance, got it installed watched some videos on how to use Forscan to Program the PCM/TCM on this thing.
it downloaded the files fine per the logs, but when attempting to write the new Solenoid strag, it keeps failing and not sure why. after it says its sending the signal for programming, about 5 secs after that the Car acts like its been restarted cause everything goes off and then comes back on.
Battery never drops below 13v ( on 15amp 12v charger )
Shouldnt be any external issues as im using OBD2 EXLink that Forscan shows to use, BT is disabled on Laptop, No disconnections via USB, or Wifi that i can tell.
ive watched about 5 different videos and they all show the same process, and procedures, i even called my buddy who did his not long ago and they all line up so im not sure whats quite going on haha
I dont want to keep trying to program it and brick anything.
Any help would be super nice and i would be forever grateful! i really do not want to tow this thing to the dealership.

Re: 09 escape 2.5L New Transmission Programming
The process you are attempting requires FORScan Version 2.4.xx(Currently2.4.20 with a Paid license), a PCM firmware erase and reprogram, possibly a VID Block change(If TRID field is in the VID block the change must be applied before programming is started and be executed during the Firmware erase and reprogram) and also requires an Adapter that has FEPS Capability(18 Volt Programming signal applied to DLC pin 13)(Check for this socket in the DLC slot 13) to open the PCM for Primary layer programming, which the OBDEX adapter does not have!CloudX wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:30 pm Hey all,

Should show a line in the Log "FEPS programming signal has been Applied" after which if using a Non FEPS adapter the log would read either FEPS signal Failed or "Process has been interrupted" and/or "The vehicle conditions are incorrect" and with possibly the Instrument cluster/Ignition cycling off and back on!
In these older PCM's the FEPS Signal or "Flash EraseableEPROM Programming Signal" is used instead of, in the later PCM versions(~2014 and up) the SBL or "Secondary Boot Loader" is used to open the Primary/EEPROM Programming layer!
This topic: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=18751, discusses the requirement briefly in the glossary and in the Introduction(If you have not read all 3 forum threads now would be good time to do so)! Older PCM versions includes some in 2012 to 2014 and older PCM's from ~ 2011 and down require the FEPS capablility!
The vLinkerFS adapter is the lowest cost adapter with this capability and uses the same FTDI driver and settings as the EX(Vendor links here: https://forscan.org/download.html!
Hope that clears it up?
Re: 09 escape 2.5L New Transmission Programming
it does indeed show FEPS programming signal has been applied, and aprox 31 seconds later it kicks back unable to gain access the vehicle conditions are not met D: guess i need to go snag the VLINKER FS and wait for that to come in
i would of figured the OBDLINK EX would of done all that since its a more costly haha

Re: 09 escape 2.5L New Transmission Programming
Sweet, I just got it in, Did the PCM update, and Clear adapative learning tables, and did the Solenoid Strat programming,
Everything worked like a hitch!!
However 2 questions, Is there supposed to be a TCM module that i need to go into to program, or just updating the PCM and setting the new Solenoid Strat was all i needed to do,
if thats it?
that means i should be able to fire it up and drive it yea?

Re: 09 escape 2.5L New Transmission Programming
You're done. PCM controls the transmission.

Sweet!!! One last thing Semi Offtopic from Post,
I have to press the Neutral safety switch every time to bring it out of park/Reverse/
I tried looking up a safety neutral switch but no dice,
I did basic trouble shooting like the brake switch works etc, and all that checked out But for the life of me i cant figure this one out, and its a tab annoying to press that little lock bypass every time lol
