Re: Focus mk4 Adaptive LED retrofit
Thanks for the positive comments, hopefully it may help others who are contemplating doing this.
Yes i've done lots of retrofits before and have an electrical/ mechanical background which does help however with the guides i have provided, there's no reason good car DIYers cant achieve the same end results!

Os the adaptive lights working well? The glare free function is also ok?

Re: Focus mk4 Adaptive LED retrofit
Yes they seem to be, they are programmed in the IMPA for glare free main beam and AHB.
I have driven in the dark, they AHB seems to work ok, however my friend has these on his car, apparently the main beam stays on, but a shield is put up to stop dazzle to oncoming vehicles. Will have to drive quite a it in the dark to ensure all the functions work as they should. But doing a on demand test on HCM goes through all its tests ok. So ✌
Update just been and tested on twisty road, all works great, puts black square over oncoming cars exactly as it should, impressive.

Re: Focus mk4 Adaptive LED retrofit
Further to my recent post. One thing i should mention, when your retro fitting adaptive lights without the levelling sensors etc, you have no reference as to what the cars normal unladen state is. The level sensors have to be calibrated to a specific tolerance in order to perform the calibration correctly, also Forscan didnt have this facility luckily, The fantastic Forscan team sent me a test version to try, which i'm happy to confirm works perfectly, once the level sensors are set correctly.
My problem how do you set them correctly when youve nothing to reference them too.
I mistakenly thought you could fit the arms in roughly the correct position and that was it. Alas NO, not even close!
You have to run the HCM pids programme and ensure the sensor arms are within certain tolerence to whats expected by the HCM as normal. Forscan then gives you live data and each arm can be set in its exact position to allow calibration to take place. We are talking very small movements give big differences so need to be accurate.
Luckily found someone in same boat as me and we shared info,(my thanks to Posta464) however i am awaiting some more settings to confirm mine are set correctly.
I will keep you all posted!

Re: Focus mk4 Adaptive LED retrofit
Can you show me your asbuilt what need to be changed for the titanium x with adaptive lights? Which is the part which contains the vincode?Graham17 wrote: Wed Oct 06, 2021 3:42 pm Right guys, the story so far, i have modified my existing headlamp looms, created new looms for front and rear headlight levellers, Front 1 in place and working on suspension, rear one needs bracket making as body where it fits is at obtuse angle, really need it on a ramp to measure as hard on axle stands on your back! So still to do!
Anyway HCM fitted and reprogrammed with my vin and codes from Titanium X, adaptive headlights fitted.
Ignition on ran Forscan got several (9) DTC codes in HCM cleared all ended up with 3, config Left lamp, config Right lamp and rear level sensor (as its not fitted yet)
Turn ignition on, headlight switch auto, i get nothing on at all. no DRL.
Turn to manual on again get no DRL and 2 inner dip beams light up, select main beam, i get 2 small inners dip beam and 2 outers light up along with DRLs.
Indicators work as normal oh and as reported start car and they all flicker.
Convinced its coding. Need more research. If anyone can share their BCM in config (text mode) rather then asbuilt so i can see how mine needs changing for new adaptive lighting.
Thanks
I did the retrofit also. Car allready has static led and autoleveling. I have changed to adaptive leds and tried to update the HCM. Either way i have an error "adaptive headlights see manual". The glare free function is not working and cornering lights isnt working yet, also i can not perform the calibration in forscan
I have changed the calibration level to from **AF to **AH and the ECU configuration base from **AF to **BJ

This is my current assbuilt data 734-01-04 is changed from **** *F** **** to **** *D** ****

These errors i still have

Re: Focus mk4 Adaptive LED retrofit
Hi sorry no longer have the car anymore and have removed the adaptive headlights as a kit which is for sale if anyone interested. PM me.
If you read the post from the beginning you should have everything you need to conplete the retrofit info wise, i literally wrote a how to guide based on my own retrofit, however please bare in mind every car is unique depending on options fitted so will need asbuilts modyfying to suit.
Options to help are, try and find a car same spec as yours but with the adaptive headlights fitted as standard on ebay, autotrader etc then download its asbuilt from www.motorcraftservice.com/asbuilt then compare to your own to see needed changes, note: do 1 line ay a time that way you can revert back.
The HCM needs your vin to make it work i used a used one and modified it. In order to calibrate the HCM the level sensors need to be at zero or it wont work. There is a post on this for a Mondeo but Focus is similar. Above all dont give up!
Good luck
