Proper identification of different battery specs

Post by mschumiv »

Hello.
I've replaced my ford focus mk4 factory battery (70 Ah, 700 CCA) with a new but larger one (80Ah, 780 CCA) but i'm a little worried because the charging behavior doesn't seem normal and also some dealership guy told me on the phone that even with a BMS reset, the car will not charge the battery upto 80Ah specs but rather 70Ah. I didn't ask if they can change the battery specs in the car's computer because i already knew it was expensive.
So, my question to anyone who knows is: what is the asbuilt code to set the correct battery specs with forscan as the list provided by forscan (latest or older version) in 'easy mode' does not match to what's actually written in the car's module. I tried several options and the actual model written was way off.
Thank you.

You can disable BMS. This a removes any need for battery information. I doubt the vehicle PCM can determine the amp hour rating of a battery. It monitors current and voltage. It also measures the state of charge overnight (or when vehicle is idle for a long time). I.would not spend.any time or money on this.

It should not. But If you have auto start-stop it may not work.
