Did you end up trying this out?MrBrownPants wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:19 pm I am hoping this is the case, and I am hoping that I can get confirmation from someone else. I am going to keep researching and familiarizing myself with the firmware update process, but I believe I will end up trying this. The only other option that I can find is the possibility of swapping a 2016 IPC into the 2015, but this seems way more involved due to having to match PNs, VINs, and setup PATS/Keys.
Anyone flashed Taurus/MKS IPC Firmware?

I have not, only because I only have one IAK (intelligent access key) and I need to make another. If something bad happens, you need to have 2 working keys to unlock the IPC. Once I do all that, I will come back and provide an update.

I am not sure of the older models, but vehicles like the
2915+ Edge
2016+ Explorer
2013+ Fusion
Do not require any PATS programming if the IPC is changed.
Many owners of those models upgrade their IPC from other vehicles with no PATS issues. I also did it to my 2016 Edge.

Interesting! I wish that was the case. IIRC, I have read in a couple of places that the Taurus's PATS programming is stored in the IPC, therefore needing reprogramming if switched out or bricked. Of course, I could be totally wrong. If, in the process of updating firmware from 2015 to 2016, I accidently brick the IPC I want to make sure I have 2 IAK, just in case. Rather be safe, than REALLY sorry.
Re: Anyone flashed Taurus/MKS IPC Firmware?
Maybe old Taurus's like before 2010. I doubt it very much to be the case for 2013+ Taurus especially with the intelligent access key. However, I have not tried it myself, so can't confirm.

Re: Anyone flashed Taurus/MKS IPC Firmware?
Back here again after a hiatus, I went into the module update screen while connected to my 2015 Taurus and I see Hardware number current FG1T-14F094-FB, and available FG1T-14F094-FC, not sure if this is the file I need, though I assume not? everything else matches in boxes current and available. Not sure how to go about getting the files I need from support or being able to tell them which ones I need, does the file ring a bell from when you updated yours?
