Hi,
My father-in-law, who is 85 yrs old, has a MK2.5 Focus (UK) 2011 Titanium with the passive entry system, keyless start and electric steering column lock.
The piggy back RKE module had gone down, causing non start, and the RKE has been replaced, at considerable cost, but the the car still will not start.
It has ignition now, but the the steering column lock is not talking and they are suspecting that there is also a fault with the BCM/GEM (whatever it is on that) now, or even the cluster.
So, our dilemma is we have a fairly decent conditioned 15 year old car (he's had it from new, it's only done 42,000 miles) which is not worth spending thousands of pounds changing loads of modules to get it to run again.
Do any of the boffins on here know if I can deactivate and physically remove the steering column lock to get the car to at least start so that we can get rid of it?
Any idea of what I would need to switch off or code in which module so that it will work, please?
TIA
Dave
