2008 Ford Edge TCM Strategy Change TRID Error

Post by vandentr »

Hello,

I am getting a TRID block error when attempting to update the TCM strategy number after replacing the transmission on a Ford Edge. After getting the error I am redirected to the PCM Module Firmware Update procedure and at that point I am stuck because the KNBE0TB file cannot be found (see below) when hitting the Download button.

Any idea how to proceed?

Sorry to say, that file is not available at Fordservice info either so it is likely been superseded by a later PCM revision and removed from the data base! Calibration files can be requested here: https://www.fordserviceinfo.com/Calibration

It may be possible that under the "Calibration Level" drop down, there is a later calibration that FORScan has encountered that may have a later E611 Calibration that is available from either fordseviceinfo or from The FORScan database

If you go here: https://www.fordserviceinfo.com/Reprogr ... alibration, you can look up all the PCM Part number revisions that this vehicle has had and see if you can find a later Calibration with a later E611 calibration file that is available!

In a cursory look I found that the last calibration at the above calibration list is for a PCM Part number 8U7A-12A650-EEB which in IDS lists the E611 Calibration file as KNBF2TF which is available at the above fordserviceinfo and I have that file and several files from the KNBF2 sequence(using a Manual vehicle entry in a Patched IDS 86 and also listed in the last Calibration file DVD from IDS 81 )!

It would appear that the older calibration files in the KNBE0 sequence(None with this sequence in the calibration file DVD) have all been removed from the Motorcraft/fordservice database as obsolete(may have been the result of a major service TSB revision)!

There is nothing older in the above calibration DVD than KNBF2A2 or KNBH0AF to KNBH0FZ! Can't say for sure without running a manual entry for each Part number revision which one will be required and whether it will change all the other files!
I only ran a manual entry with a VIN pulled from car-part.com for 2008 edge using the last PCM part number/tear tag sequence in the above calibration list!

If there is no Later calibration in the drop down, the only other way with FORScan and this is dangerous, is to use the custom process and you will have to hunt up the files your self!

Unless one of the other members(Old tin fords or boosted diesel may have some ideas as they seem to have a bigger collection), has that file it looks like the calibration you are attempting is no longer available even from Ford and there may be a good reason as to why!

Just some ideas from an old mechanic and they may not even help?
