2000 Ford Explorer won’t connect and now has beeping noise

Post by kkehoe8501 »

I just hooked up my laptop with an obd exlink (pretty sure, I do know it’s a known working adapter because it will connect to my mustang and brother in laws 2000 f-350.) Forscan gives me an error that I need to key on engine off and it failed to connect to the vehicle. The key is in the run status and the ignition is on. The vehicle now struggles to start and there is a very loud beeping sound, the vehicle recognizes the key. It sounds like it struggles to get air/fuel. I know it’s not a starter issue or battery issue as the vehicle did turn over and start. This beeping sound did not start until after I attempted to connect to the explorer with forscan. I want to assume it’s PATS that’s causing it, but the theft light on the dash turns off after key on for like 2-3 seconds. If anyone has any information that might point me in the right direction that would be great. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum also.

As far as I know the only thing that will beep at you is the air bag module if the lamp in the cluster stops working
Its a backup warning just for that bulb
I would try loading the vehicle with the tear tag or PCM number & see if you can read anything
