Hi
Car: Ford Mondeo DURATEC-HE / I4 2.0L 2009
Forscan version: 2.3.58 extended license
My problem
Due to a suspected faulty BCM I got another used one. I then followed this guide because it seemed like the most comprehensive:
I am pretty confident I have managed to transfer all configuration data from the old BCM. I then proceeded with PATS programming.
Most guides recommend resetting a bunch of modules and DTC:s before proceeding. Some guides recommend relearning network configuration. This option does not seem to be available with this car.
I then erased the existing keys stored in the new (old) BCM and successfully programmed the two keys to be used.
I then tried running Module initialization, but this keeps failing. I have tried this several times.
I read somewhere (https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17534) that this message is in fact incorrect and that the car started anyway. In my case, the car is not starting. It is not even cranking, and I do not get the "Immobilizer active" message which one would expect.
There is a short video for you here: https://youtu.be/GZdS1S6nEC8
Unfortunately the steering wheel is covering the display but I'll say it again: the "Immobilizer active" message is not showing.
Some troubleshooting
I tried changing back to the old BCM. As soon as I tried starting the car the display now showed "Immobilizer active".
I tried running "Module initialization", which failed in the same manner as before.
Now, the car behaved exactly as with the other BCM (not showing "Immobilizer active", not starting). I then erased all keys, programmed the two keys again, and the car started.
I'm lost
To be honest, I'm a bit lost.
What does the "no start but no Immobilizer active" phenomenon indicate? What was most likely the problem with the new BCM? Does anyone have experience programming PATS with this particular Mondeo?
Mondeo MK4 PATS - Module initialization failed
Re: Mondeo MK4 PATS - Module initialization failed
Update...
I tried again a few times today.
Old BCM
PATS programming and initialization works perfectly.
There are also no DTC:s.
New (used) BCM
Erasing and adding keys seems to work fine. PATS module initialization fails.
This DTC is very suspicious to me:
I am not sure how to proceed. Could the new BCM be defect? Is there a communication issue caused by replacing the BCM?

Module: Powertrain Control Module
Freeze Frame #1:
-EVENT_TIME: 349737669 s - Event time
-TOTAL_DISTANCE: 221160 km - Total Distance
-MODULE_VOLTAGE: 12.0 V - Control Module Voltage

===BCMii DTC U0515:87-2F===
Code: U0515 - Invalid Data Received From Remote Function Actuation Module
Additional Fault Symptom (:87):
- Missing Message
It seems the new BCM was taken from a car with RFA while your car has no RFA (passive key system). PATS with and without RFA is different. BCM numbers are the same, just EEPROM is different, so you cannot see the difference outside.

Re: Mondeo MK4 PATS - Module initialization failed
Подскажите, вы разобрались с проблемой? У меня также не получается закончить процедуру инициализации модуля PATS, и я не получаю сообщение иммобилайзер включен

I have the same problem if there is a solution for this. Bcm from a car with RFA to a car with a regular ignition switch
