relearning pats 2003 f150
is it possible to relearn pats using only 1 key?i have another pats key i would have to cut by hand to make work if 2 are really needed or a way to trick pats to think there is 2 different keys? anyone done this before?

Only Pats "A" systems allow reprogram using 1 key. Only a few vehicles from 96-98 had this system.
A 2003 F150 has PATS "C" which needs 2 keys. By 2 keys it has to have 2 keys with different coded "keys". So you can't use a key and a cloned key because they have the same coded digital key.
Here is some good information:https://www.motorcraftservice.com/pdf/pats_job_aid.pdf

the other pats key i have is from an 03 mercury sable which is a code E. would this be an issue? i know little when it comes to the PATS system other than it can be frustrating at times

Re: relearning pats 2003 f150
well i found a solution. went to the autoparts store and purchased another lock cylinder with keys pulled the transponder ring out put the new key inside the lock cylinder sitting it onto of my steering column used a screw driver to turn the truck "off and on" wiped the keys stored and reprogrammed them by simply pulling the out and putting the original back inside when relearning and presto im good to go. now i can return the new cylinder and order another key off ebay or wherever and have it cut. once thats done i can make sure the new key is good by testing it. hope this helps someone in need in the future but im overjoyed and forscan worked perfect!

I was actually gonna suggest doing something along those lines. Glad you got it working.Commando2055 wrote:well i found a solution. went to the autoparts store and purchased another lock cylinder with keys pulled the transponder ring out put the new key inside the lock cylinder sitting it onto of my steering column used a screw driver to turn the truck "off and on" wiped the keys stored and reprogrammed them by simply pulling the out and putting the original back inside when relearning and presto im good to go. now i can return the new cylinder and order another key off ebay or wherever and have it cut. once thats done i can make sure the new key is good by testing it. hope this helps someone in need in the future but im overjoyed and forscan worked perfect!
