2012 Fusion dark car?

Post by accident »

I found the option in the GEM config to turn DRL on or off, but I'm looking for dark car or a similar option on my 2012 Fusion so I can disable the dome light and the parking lights remaining on. Am I missing something?

I am confused, Dark Car disables your dome (and footwell lights if so equipped) from coming on when you open the door to exit, parking lights remaining on is a different thing.

Dark Car could be in the BCM, but it's not a known value as of yet.

The Autolamp system for exiting or remote unlocking of your vehicle is settable in one of two ways.

From your steering wheel (if so equipped) press the SETUP button repeatedly to cycle the message center options until you see AUTOLAMP (SEC), then press reset to cycle the delay time from 0 to 180 seconds.

Or manually by:

Programmable exit delay allows the length of the autolamp exit delay to be changed.
To program the auto lamp exit time delay:

1. Start with the ignition in the off position and the headlamp control in
the autolamp position.
2. Turn the headlamp control to off.
3. Turn the ignition switch to on and then back to off.
4. Turn the headlamp control to the autolamp position. The headlamps will turn on.
5. Wait the desired amount of time for the exit delay you want (up to three minutes), then turn the headlamps off.

That being said Forscan could change the delay but you would need to know what bits represent the timeout. Setting it to 0 should disable the function.

Sorry, I thought they were the same function since police vehicles generally wouldn't want the parking lights to stay on. I've got autolamp disabled on the car, so the headlights don't stay on after exit, but the parking lights do until the lock button is pressed on the factory remote or 30 seconds or so have elapsed. Not normally an issue for people who use the factory remote, but I've got an aftermarket alarm/remote start and the lights don't cut off when locking via the alarm remote.
