I also have the exact same problem on a 2018 F150.
I am also getting "unable to read DTC" after every module as well.
It didn't happen the first time but every subsequent time it has. I don't want to make any more mods
just in case i brick a module and can't put it back.

found a workaround, if you don't use a profile and re-load the modules every time it works just fine.

My first experience with FORScan was to enable the Trailer Brake Controller and Trailer Brake Gain Control in a 2017 F150 earlier this evening. When "unable to read DTC" came up I came right back to this forum and found this workaround in 2 clicks. It worked perfect. Thank you so much for taking the time to share the workaround with us. I think my F150 is now ready to tow!!!
