Totally new here and new to efi engines (built many old school carb motors)
I am just looking to find out what forscan can and cant do.
Can I adjust shift points and rpm?
Can I adjust timing ?
Etc...
I know I can read and reset codes but can I use forscan to do performance moding? I only ask as theres not much info on the what and how of forscan.
If I can not do performance mods is there any program out there that will allow me to do it through the laptop and connector like forscan? If so can you tell me the program names and perhaps where to find them. I dont really want one of those little scanner programmers would rather have a full diagnostic system with adjustment capabilities like forscan that gives me all the info on my laptop not just a click this simple change like the little hand helds.
thanks for the help
What can FORSCAN do?
Re: What can FORSCAN do?
In simple words, FORScan tries to implement functions that are available in professional scanners (like Ford IDS, M-MDS, Launch etc), and sometimes slightly more. It is now somewhere in the middle of this way between regular OBDII scanners (like ScanMaster ELM and Torque) and professional ones, and still has no a lot of major functions, such as flash reporgramming, vehicle configuration management etc. However, professional scanners are designed for diagnostic and service, not for tuning or a peformance improvement. So called chip tuning is another big area and is it out of project scope yet.
