i know this is probably been asked a million times but here we go
i just bought the BBFly Pro VINT 55502 ELM 327 to use on my 2015 Ford Focus. Got it from Amazon for $30, so its a cheap clone i take it.
I have installed and uninstalled several times the drivers CH340 as well as all the recommended drivers from Prolific PL32203, Driver Pack 1 to 5, found on the totalcardiagnostics webpage. I'm using Windows 10 -x64.
device manager tells me everything is ok with USB Serial CH340 (COM 5) all drivers up to date and working. No yellow warnings
So why will it not connect to vehicle? Doesn't even recognize it. Tried the usual, plug/unplug, reboot, key-on/off, etc.
Only thing i wonder about is i get a ""System shut off to save battery" message with a progress bar on the display screen of the Focus. Can that have anything to do with it.
thanks for your patience
does not connect

Re: does not connect
this same issue happened with my hp laptop. I ended up using my daughters laptop. Windows was recognizing the obdII as a serial device but not connecting
Re: does not connect

Re: does not connect
My Lincoln MKZ does not have words on the ignition switch. It should show Off - Acc - On - Start. The “Can not connect to engine” message is generated when in the Acc position. I turned it one more click ( On) and it worked perfectly.
Re: does not connect
i tried a couple adapters nothing would connect using forscan untill i bought the RX version here off a link to amazon also leaving the settings in auto seems to work the best as to finding a connection to the car brain i have a gen 1 so im here looking for other goodies but at least i can connect and get dtc info cleared and such
