Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
Hello all on this chain,
In doing some digging to find a solid answer to the subwoofer having an amplified sound on all levels and just overall not a good quality I reached out to Kicker directly. If you are working on a 2019 or 2020 F-150, you must have the updated harness from Kicker or make some modifications to the jumper harness when the truck is missing the 1212 connector at the D/S C-pillar. It seems the main difference is where you can access the signal + and - from. I figured, fused 12V power, ground, remote turn on for the amp and then signal + and - would be from a rear door speaker (wrong!) there is no built in low pass filter in the amp which then is an amplified full range speaker (not a subwoofer). If you want to modify the existing old harness you’ll need to access the 26 pin connector at the radio, white into pin 4, black into pin 17 (for signal wires) and then the remote turn on purple is pin 18 in addition to a fused 12V and a good ground. This can be found in the updated installation guide Kicker provides for MY2019+2020. This is also in addition to activating the 6 or 7 speaker with kicker subwoofer in FORScan or the dealer can do so. I hope this is helpful to anyone who may be fumbling with the same issues I was having. I went through Kicker and purchased the harness from them for $100 but they might not always have one available to ship out. Cheers!

Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
cturkoppjr, were you able to install the new harness and can you tell a difference?
i checked my truck w forscan and the settings are correct for 7spkr w kicker option enabled, but the sound is still muddy. another forum recommended adding some fiberfill to the sub enclosure. i added a some fill just enough to reduce empty cavity and noticed it took off some of the harsh, but it's still not what I would expect for a "subwoofer package".
do you think this harness will be available from dealer (know part #)?

Hi pagan696,
It sounds like you wired the sub the same way I did, if you’re looking for simplicity I do recommend the updated Kicker harness for 2019-2020 trucks. Their part # HPSW-P552/2019, it is not for sale on their website or any retail locations. Probably because they want you to buy the full new kit for $700? Anyways, call Kicker and ask for that specific part, it took about a week to get and I installed it last night. The difference is night and day. Is this a trophy winning subwoofer? Absolutely not, but it’s great for the size and location since I use my under seat space for tools etc.
I hope this helps!!!

Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
It was dealer installed before I purchased the truck. It was listed on the factory window sticker. I’ll follow up w both Ford and Kicker. When I 1st reached out to Kicker they said go thru dealer, so we’ll see how it goes. Thanks for sharing info.
Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
update: i took to my dealer today and they say ACM is correct and no other complaints or ford TSBs for this issue. so I'm reaching out to stillwater again to see next steps to take. i'm not keen on buying a new harness and pulling dash since it is a brand new truck, and worried if it is or isn't different than what i currently have.
forscan reading
- auxiliary external subwoofer: enabled
- engine noise enhancement: disabled
- kicker install: 7 speaker - kicker
- mute radio: disabled

Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
I too have a 2020 f150 xlt and I installed the kicker subwoofer system. Like many of you, I’m getting full range through my sub and my amp is getting really really hot. I do have the new $100 wire harness installed. Did anybody figure out a fix for this situation?? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
update 2: stillwater designs have been very good about replying to my emails. they agree the audio control module is sending full range to the amp/sub. they recommended I return to dealer and have the ACM reflashed or reinstalled. the oem amp does not have any gain level or crossover adjustments and only amplifies the signal coming from the head unit. when I presented this to my local dealer (I purchased the truck from a further away dealer) they were kind of aware of this issue before, but since they did not install it, Ford would not cover their labor under warranty. they did inspect my software and said there were "no updates", and I needed to go to the dealer i purchased from to get issue resolved. so I return to dealer i purchased from and go thru the entire story again, they basically said the same, inspected software and "no updates" available or needed, they have to follow the Ford service procedures. so I am still at square 1 with kicker saying the amp/sub install was not correctly installed since the dealer install instructions state to reinstall the acm over wifi and it adds the crossover filtering AFTER the hardware has been recognized.
i am having an issue with my backup camera (seems many are and cameras are backlogged in inventory), so when it comes in, and I take it back for that service, I will go over all of this information again.
it is extremely frustrating that it is something that I cannot fix myself or I would. for now I have just unplugged the amp/sub plug and doing without since the sound quality is so terrible.
1st world problems, doest affect the operation ability of the truck, but damn...

Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
Use these two settings in Forscan and it will sound great! I used them on my 2020 XLT Crew 7 speaker. (I assume the 2019 configuration is the same) bought the new kicker kit with the harness for the back of the head unit.

Re: Kicker subwoofer and 727-01-02
Thanks James, in my 727-01-02 I have 3 blocks for 4 digits each. The notes list “0088 B9” but when I enter only that code I get an error message and reverts to default/saved values.

Sorry, keep the other values exactly as they are. Only change the first 6.
