Oil Reset

Post by st381183 »

I have a 2018 Ford Expedition and have used ForScan to reprogram different items. I no longer have an Oil Life Reset function in order to reset the oil life after my oil change. Does anyone know how to get this back in the IPC or what setting I need to futz with to be able to reset my oil life so the truck isn’t always reminding me?

Here are some more details if anyone has an idea where I can look to get this functioned back in order:

I have made a few modifications with Forscan:

Double Honk on Exit disabled
Auto Start/Stop disabled
Fake engine noise disabled
Temperature over gauges enabled
Global window open/close from fob enabled

I have just discovered that the Engine Oil Life Reset function that is supposed to be under the Settings - My Vehicle - Advanced Settings - Engine Oil Life Reset, Hold to reset function is completely missing.

The setting is simply not there.
Is there a specific code to re-enable this function with Forscan?  I have used the function before to reset oil life on the last oil change.  I only added global window open shut.  I have reset to factory settings but the oil life reset function is still missing.

I would appreciate any thoughts anyone might have. The next option is to take it to the dealer and hope the warranty will cover the reprogramming. My original factory settings save file was lost in a PC that up and died on me.

I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know that CS at ForScan assisted me within 24hrs to locate the right setting and enable the “Oil Life Reset” function in my IPC. Very responsive and helpful. ForScan is the bomb for setting your vehicle up the way you want it and enable the functions that Ford doesn’t want to give you for free. It was all user error on my part and it took two clicks to fix the issue after plugging everything in.

I know it's sort of an old thread, but on the off chance you're still around, and remember what was done, it would be nice of you to post it for persons searching in the future (like me).

I have the same issue after it was removed from the IPC after having a software update at the main Ford dealer.
So each time I now have an oil change I have to connect to Forscan just to reset instead of simply using the "ok" button on the steering wheel.

Go to the IPC config, enable engineer mode and search for Oil, I can't remember the exact name but I turned it on, on a 2021 Ford the other week by mistake if its not under that check under the BCM.

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried the IPC route, no luck there, it allows it to be enabled but doesn't appear on the dash side of IPC. Will have a look in the BCM and see if it works, thanks again.

Had some spare time this afternoon so I thought I'd have another look in the IPC, BDYCM no joy.

There's no option for engineering mode available on Forscan showing ( Paid License).
So back to square one.

Mk4 Focus 1.5 Diesel and no option to reset oil life after an oil change without hooking upto Forscan each and everytime

I hope someone on here has the answer.

So you can reset it with Forscan? I could not find even service procedure for resetting the counter. I also have mk4 1.5 diesel focus.

Seems that it can be reset by fully pressing brake and throttle pedal for something like 15-30s while ignition is on. Not sure what's the exact procedure, but somehow I managed to reset the counter.
