Real milage?

Post by Ford4Life »

Can I read the real car mileage somehow on a Mondeo mk4? Apparently it's saved in the IPC which is quite easy to replace with a one that got lower mileage. But is it saved somewhere more reliable?

It could be in ecu, or anywhere really.

Yes, but is it possible to read it with Forscan?
Currently ALL modules that I found so far with Total distance says the same as the IPC module, I know that reported distance is not correct.
That's why I need to know if it's saved somewhere else, so I can write the correct value to the IPC.

I did a scan with FORScan after fitting another Powershift gearbox and it listed exactly the same milage as the Kuga clocks.

Would have thought the TCM would log it's own mileage from new?.

A small follow up.
I checked mileage on other modules after temporarily refitting the old the IPC, they all showed the same as the IPC i refitted.
So mileage only seems to be saved in the IPC and other modules read from that value.

The car inspection service didn't mention anything either when I came in with a lower mileage than before, so the car got a lower mileage now in the records. Only place to see that the mileage is incorrect is in the service book.
But I will fix this with Forscan, however it makes me wonder how many Fords out there are running with wrong mileage because of replaced IPCs.

I found it in the IPC and the PCM on my 15' Explorer.

I checked recently on a MY17 Mondeo and as with most Fords the majority of the modules pull their mileage info from the IPC but on the MY17 Mondeo i had the original (different) reading in the PCM which wasn't pulling the info from IPC.

I have to check the PCM then, that way they won't differ when I adjust it.

There is a page on the application that shows you all the modules' mileage. Can't remember the page off the top of my head.

There is a page that lists all modules Calibration / Firmware details but on my 2013 Kuga they all give identical mileage (even with different TCM).
