OBDLink EX Ford Transit mk7 2012 Not Connecting

I am using the OBDLink EX to connect with windows usb to my windows 10 software.

1. Connect OBDLink EX to Ford Transit 2012 MK7 socket
2 Connect to USB on Windows 10 laptop
3 Turn on ignition
Response
4 Light on OBDLink EX does not go on ( not showing a connection ?)
5 When I use forscan it doesnt link or identify the OBDLink EX when I try to connect.

6 I have been to my diesel mechanic who uses his professional scanner to identify engine faults . Works no problem and shows engine fault codes.

Any suggestions to why its not working ?
My USB connections all work with other items eg mouse

When I just plug in the ODBLink EX to the USB port on my laptop should the light show up on the ODBLink EX to show its working ?
Its not lighting up by itself and not lighting up when connected to the Ford Transit .

Hi David,

OBDLink EX is powered from USB, so the status light should turn on as soon as you plug it into a functioning USB port (even a USB port on a phone charger). So unfortunately, it does sound like you received a defective unit. Every single OBDLink is 100% tested before it leaves the factory, but it is possible that it got damaged during shipping.
