Injector order..?

Post by Revolty »

Attempting to (re)code my injectors but am a bit puzzeled about what injector order to use. The description in the application is really confusing IMO.

Code: Select all

Cylinder 1 2 3 4
Code A B C D
The fiering order on my vechile supose to be 1, 4, 2, 3. Are the following (application/programing) order correct than?

1. A
2. D
3. B
4. C

Also, I've already programed my injectors (in multiple orders and codes), but I'm not experiencing any difference - at all. Some members on other forums say that the car should sound like and old taxi, but mine already is. Are there any way to tell if it succeeded on a Mondeo pre 03/06? (codes can't be readed). The appliction says that it was sucessfull but I'm not to sure, if I was to program zeros as code and later the correct code I should be able to tell the difference?

Thanks. Great application btw, only thing I'd prefer different is the way live data is shown in diagram - it would be easyer to have all curves in the same scheme.

Hi Revolty,

Have you read this article?

http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2

It has answers to all of your questions.

We agree the numbering is quite confusing. The way FORScan display the data matches to the one used in Ford dealership scanner and also it matches to the "natural" order the injectors data in ECU memory. But it is hard to read and hard to interprete, especially if you do it first time. We already discussed it with our users multiple time. There are examples of other implementation, for example Bosh KTS has no injector order, it only has cylinder order, so all codes are entered for cylinders. We agree this scheme is better, and the only reason why it is still not changed in FORScan is that this modification means quite significant modifications and massive re-testing on tens of models. This is quite large volume of work, we have no time for it right now.

Regarding firing order, please look at the picture carefully, at the cylinder order and injector order. Injector 1 cylinder 1 fires first. Injector 2 cylinder 3 fires next. Injector 3 cylinder 4 fires third. Injector 4 cylinder 2 fires last. So firing order for Mondeo Mk3 is 1-3-4-2 (as advised above).

Regarding of Mondeo TDCI pre-2003 - as explained in the article above, there is no way to confirm this except if DTC P233x was thrown. Changing code for right injector should remove the DTC. We have feedback from several users with Mondeo pre-2003 who programmed injectors this way and were quite satisfied with the result (DTC gone etc).

Sorry, I ment injector order.. If the image didn't have cylinder order printed it wouldn't be any confusion for me (can't explain why it was, now that I know..) Anyway, it's crystal clear to me now. Thanks. And heya oldbod :)

One more thing, just to be sure.. In the first step I think it says "turn the engine off". Do this mean just the engine, or engine AND ignition (completely off)?
Again, reason I ask is because I don't think it really succeeds for some reason.

The procedure requires KOEO mode of work (ignition key is on, engine is off ). If you try the procedure on the running engine, FORScan asks you to shut it off. During the procedure it will ask to turn off/on the ignition.
