How to perform Powershift 6DCT250 (DPS6) adaptive learning
Re: How to perform Powershift 6DCT250 (DPS6) adaptive learning
Have you tried with no battery charger connected and doing the BCM reset first.
Re: How to perform Powershift 6DCT250 (DPS6) adaptive learning
Also did you warm up the car first? Doesn't complete the relearn procedure properly without warming up the car first.
Re: How to perform Powershift 6DCT250 (DPS6) adaptive learning
@rich935, Yes, I made sure the car was warmed up and tried without the battery charger on. If there was a bad clutch or shift fork, would it still complete the procedure or would it fail? At this point, I am more or less trying to make sure that the car needs a clutch and shift forks before dropping 600 on parts. I thought it may be a clutch actuator, but there are not any codes pertaining to that, just the one about the shift fork.
Re: How to perform Powershift 6DCT250 (DPS6) adaptive learning
Also, I attempted switching the A and B clutch actuators around to see if it would help, and the relearn still failed with the same error, "Select Gears-Err"

Have you checked for corrosion on the ground on the body and the body? https://youtu.be/T8aIrchDmhI
This link is what I'm talking about. The only other thing I can think of is making sure the lights, radio, and ac isn't running and you keep you foot on the brake for the whole procedure and doing the 'BCM reset' before the service. The position test and shift drum test is done before also right. I think there is a separate test for a clutch test called "Perform Clutch System Test" I think that really tests if you need new clutches but if you can't complete the Adaptive learning procedure the car won't run right. So I'm not sure what else you can try. Good luck

I have a problem, which is that when I adapt the clutch, when you need to press the brake and the acceleration pedal, the revolutions only increase to 1800-1900 RPM and not 3000-3500 and pressing the acceleration pedal lights up red.

Is the Range sensor and the shift fork/drum learn completing successfully! Those must compete successfully before the clutch learn is even attemptedasherm wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 2:48 pm Also, I attempted switching the A and B clutch actuators around to see if it would help, and the relearn still failed with the same error, "Select Gears-Err"
The DTC P2837 is setting for Shift fork B because it is not likely in the correct position to actually engage a gear! If the Range and shift drum/Fork learn are not competing successfully there is no point in doing the Clutch learn as Clutch B will not be able to find its friction point because Shift fork B does not have the TCM learn program "Commanded Gear engaged and holding input shaft Shaft B from turning. That is the likely cause of the select Gear Error!
If this is happening the Clutch B actuator step motor cannot step to the point where the clutch assembly actually tries to turn the held input shaft and lower the 3000-3500 engine RPM about 200 RPM and record the actual clutch B step motor position for the friction point of Clutch B!
Your first post indicated you were having trouble shifting to reverse which quite likely means there is trouble with gears 2 4 and 6 as well Those gears and reverse are all on the shift fork B actuator and are driven by clutch B!
The Ford Pin Point test for DTC P2837 is to perform the Shift drum adaptive learn in the "Transmisson Control Module(TCM) Adaptive Learn" procedure! If the the DTC persists after a shift fork adaptive learn then the problem is very likely not in the clutch but in the TCM module/shift fork B actuator or inside the transmission shift drum/shift fork assembly!
Don't know for sure but it sounds like there is a shift actuator or shift drum gear train or fork problem! Chasing the clutch learn is a waste of time until you can get P2837 cleared to where it does not reset!

I don't think that transmission is on that year Focus. But if it is all I can think of trying is making sure you foot remains on the brake pedal the whole time and you don't have anything running like the ac or heater fan and probably the radio also and no battery charger connected during that relearn service. Good luckGoral2548 wrote: Sun Feb 20, 2022 9:01 pm I have a problem, which is that when I adapt the clutch, when you need to press the brake and the acceleration pedal, the revolutions only increase to 1800-1900 RPM and not 3000-3500 and pressing the acceleration pedal lights up red.

Re: How to perform Powershift 6DCT250 (DPS6) adaptive learning
I’m not sure where else to ask but I’m trying to do a tcm adaptive learning for a 2012 ford focus with the dps6 transmission.the software seems to just hang up and not do anything past about half way. It goes to 100% then restarts at 50% and climbs again over and over. It gets all the way to shift drum adaptive leaning and says ok but when it gets to gear command for neutral state for both transmission shafts it just doesn’t seem to go any further any help would be appreciated thanks

I've had this happen before a few times. Have you tried resetting all the modules beforehand? Is it in FTDI mode? Also what seemed to work once is driving it in limp mode for about two miles first. But mostly resetting the BCM and if that doesn't work reset all of them first. Oh yeah also make sure the car is up to temperature first or in the middle of the gauge then try the adaptive learning. I don't know what else you can try. Good luck.
