PAM Module update failed

Post by stimpy88 »

Hello, can somebody please help me with my PAM module. I tried to update the module using the latest beta version, and the vlinker FS adaptor, correctly configured. I followed the instructions, but it stopped at 99% and I don't know what to do. The radio says that the PAM has failed and I need to get the car serviced.

I'm in deep dodo, can somebody please help unbrick this module?

OK, I stopped panicking, and set ISO15765 from "Auto" to "In application", and selected the original firmware file, and it was successful. No problems after clearing the DTCs.

I don't know if I'm brave enough to try the update again, using the In-Application mode... Is this a problem with the vLinker FS, or something else? Do any of you have any experience in this?

now upgrade again and set ISO15765 from "Auto" to "In application" and if you succeed, problem vlinker FS adaptor
but if it fails, problem of vbf.file or forscan program

I hope it's not the vLinker, as it's recommended by Forscan. I did already update it to the .86 firmware, so hopefully it can be fixed by vLink, but I wont hold my breath.

Is it your experience that you have to set Forscan to "in application" mode to get it to flash firmware, or is it something special about the vLinker FS/PAM module?

I'm a little reluctant to try to update it again, as I need the car every day, and this really put me off using Forscan to update modules, (it was my very first try at doing it!) even though I bought the vLinker and a brand new laptop just for that purpose.

I wonder if I just got unlucky with this particular module... What settings did you use?

Once I started flashing modules, with PDM, I need few (7-9 maybe) trials changing adapter settings as well as flashed files sequence to succeed. Then I PM Forscan team with the log per instruction pinned. I received test version of the software with the bug fixed. Then I was able to flash the same module at default settings with no problem.
Afterwards I attempted to flash DDM, successfully. With gathered confidence I flashed PCM, successfully.
Using vLinker usb and version 2.4.1 that time on FF3
