2023 Transit: Unable to identify vehicle using as-built workaround

Hello,

I am unable to connect to my stock, untouched 2023 Transit 250 w/ 3.5L Turbo. VIN:1FTBR2XG7PKA19785 I get the Unable to identify vehicle error. Ran Forscan in administrator mode on brand new for this purpose HP laptop. Used suggested OBDLink EX cable, US Amazon link below. Read the PCM label off of the module under the hood. H/W: LK41-12A650-VA (Same ECU as far back as 2020 I think) S/W: LK4A-12B684-BA. Used a forum post to search the workaround of using As Built data downloaded from Motocraft site and used the F188 value of PK41-14C204-CNA, no F113 value listed. This also verifies the H/W part number. The result is an unable to connect error, contact support.

Update: Using extended version of Forscan. I wish these poor developers could take my money. Updated cable to 5.7.1, no luck. Windows says serial driver is up to date. Willing to pay for solution that gets this working and allows me to implement Police Dark Mode. Campers LOVE when my headlights and taillights illuminate every time I open the door and it shines into their tents!

That model has a far different network (CAN-FD) than the Classic CAN network.
These networks are protected but this member did get around an odd solution. Read the link and double check your results:

I tried both the F113 and F118 value as seen the on .txt as-built file seen in the screenshot on my original post. The CAN-FD is news to me, thank you. Any other suggestions?

Edit: I read a few of your posts. Is it worth pursing this further due to the CAN-FD bus or should I shelve it for a while untill the newer systems are hacked (if that even seems possible).

There is a struggle to access these new models because of network protection and the use of CAN-FD.
I have the latest IDS with the VCM 3 . There are no problems with access on any models that are in stock (OEM) condition.
If you kept all your logs and files, contact support if they have something new to offer for your model. Don't be surprised if your model does not allow "Dark Mode" but it's never been tested or adapted on your model year at the moment.

Again, thanks so much for your input. Unfortunately this endeavor isn’t worth $1500+ for me to buy the cable and adaptor for an unpredictable or failed result. I’d rather pay a tune shop or someone a couple hundred dollars to make what I want work or wait for others to blaze the trail on the DIY route fory my model/year.

I wondered if the golden age for this would end. I’m an EE by trade and have seen these cycles before, i.e. phone hacking, satellite TV set top box hacking. It’s kind of silly that all the CANBUS messages aren’t authenticated or encrypted. Even with right to repair, it will always be a cat and mouse game.

I had a similar issue with the 2023 Transits. I see the build you are using in v2.3.51. They had to build another software that worked with the PCM for the 2023 Transits. Try updating to v2.3.52 and see if it works. If not, I can send you the build that they sent me.

Please use the following algorithm if FORScan cannot recognize your 2023+ car:

1. Download and install the latest offical release (2.3.52 at this moment).
2. If it doesn't work or work but partially, please contact FORScan support team and provide your VIN (in case of the car isn't recognized at all) or debug information (in case of car is recognized, but some other problem exists).

also having issues with my 2020 transit 3.5na, trying to get the factory tune back on it because safelite auto glass didnt remove the speed limiting software and something else as far as gas mileage. the software is through derive systems and they have been no help, ive purchased the 1 year and currently running the beta version but im not able to get the strategy file of lk41-14c204-pk. Any suggestions or anyone have the file?
