Re: How to program PATS using FORScan v2.3.*

Post by NoNameTST »

Hello,

I have a problem with adding a new key in the Focus MK2. Forscan grants secure access and after a while crashes the message: "PATS key programming failed". This happens regardless of whether I use Forscan's built-in incode generator or an external calculator.
The only thing that went flawlessly was the module initialization.
Forscan version 2.3.48, on the earlier version but also 2.3.4x, was the same. What am I doing wrong?

Regards
Radek.

Well written and thorough article, but I have a question. For programming, you write to use a new key in the process. My question is: Will both old keys work rather than a new blank? Will the system write over previously used keys? I have them both, just wondering if I need to get a new blank key cut before I attempt to do this.

Afraid not! As from 2012 Euro Market, 2015 N/A Market the Incode could only be generated through an online PATS Ford Dealer Login account or Paid Etis account at Ford or a Paid NASTF Locksmith Login(huge amount of money as this requires posting a Bond)!

The FORScan PATS Service has been disabled in nearly all vehicles After 2015 Model Year as there is no Free Online way to obtain the Incode unless you have a Dealer Login at Etis(as you have discovered and apparently you have one that has not had PATS disabled) so FORScan saw no way to make it work in vehicles after 2015!

On trying to erase and reprogram the passive keys on my 2010 Mk4 Mondeo (UK) I get the same message as in the photo which has surprised me as it's the pre facelift Mk4 and also because my mondy was stolen in december in London and my assumption was that their method of starting the car was via the OBD port (entry to the car was forced so I don't think they used a scanner to clone my key). Does this imply the thief had access to the 'new' incodes system, or a way around it?

Also I noticed under the line that said Total number of passive fobs:3 (as expected) there was another line that said Total number of pats transponders in the emergency slot: 5 (paraphrasing from memory - wording may not be spot on)

Any idea what that's about?

Anyhow guess I need to take it into a ford dealer...

I see the option in the PATS service procedure to erase and reprogram the keys, do I need two keys to preform this function? How do I tell if my key is the master or not, it definitely has the MyKey enabled and has some restriction with it (radio will not play unless seat belt is latched). When I check the Information menu on my truck under MyKet, it shows the MyKey in bold and the admin key in grey, I guess this means the key I have is the MyKey enabled key, is this correct?

Any help is appreciated!!

Hello,

I have one working fob. The other was lost and I’m waiting for a replacement OEM. Can someone tell me definitively if I can program keys on my 2015 F-150 Lariat? I’ve installed the latest Forscan and can’t seem to find the proper place to program keys. I really don’t want to go to dealer.

Thanks!

PATS was removed or does not appear in the FORScan Service procedures Icon section for vehicles after or about 2015 because in that M.Y. Ford changed their PATS system to an Out Code incode system that requires a NASTF or a Licensed dealer login to a PATS online server in order to generate a Security Incode from the vehicles Out Code!

Check Your owners manual as there may be a way to enter a spare key and fob using a key on off sequence with the existing Key as long as there are two or more key transponders in memory!

Otherwise, I am afraid the Dealer or a NASTF Licensed Lock Smith is the only option. Sorry!

Thanks for you reply.

So what other avenues are available for a DIY solution?

Thanks.

A question for someone who has access to the online PATS server (for vehicles made after 2015).
I'm curious, how does the key add process look currently? I thought that everything will be the same (so I can see the PATS options in forscan) except for the input code but that's not in case because I do not even see PATS in forscan :?

2004 explorer have only one key. Bought 2 new keys from Amazon. Tried to program them and not working. Erased the one working key and tried again. Had a locksmith out and the key counter would read 1 and when adding key drops to 0 and back to one. What gives? Bad keys?
