FORScan 2.3.47 running on Windows 11 ARM laptop

Post by jmsezone »

It took me a while to figure this out. Microsoft has always allowed some backwards comparability for legacy software. In Windows 11 ARM FORScan will run in x86 compatibility mode. Simply do the following.

Open your system drive.
Open the "Program Files (x86) folder.
Open the Forscan Folder.
Right click the Forscan executable file. This opens the "FORScan Properties" window for the FORScan program.
Open the Compatibility tab.
In the "Windows on ARM" box, Select "Change Emulation Settings."
The first window with an drop down arrow/ carrot should be set to "default." Change this to "Very strict multi-core operation."
Left click ok. You will return to the "FORScan Propereties" window.
In the "FORScan Properties" window left click apply.

After doing this, FORScan should run.

I did this on my Samsung Galaxy Go laptop running Windows 11 arm on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. No problems connecting or scanning.

Running the software troubleshooter will not get the software working. You have to go to the FORScan executable file to change theses settings.

Hope this helps anyone running a budget laptop running an ARM environment.

Thanks for the help ! :D

Even the "safe emulation" works great on MacBook Pro 14' M1 with Windows 11 ARM virtualized using Parallels Desktop 18.0.1

Hey everyone, I'm in the same boat trying to run Forscan on an Apple M2 max. I've got forscan up and running but I'm having a terrible time getting my OBDLink Ex to connect to Forscan. I keep getting the "no adapter found" error. I've found the ARM drivers for the adapter but I can't make windows recognize them - even manually. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

What ODB connector are you using for your M1. I am trying the OBDlink EX but it has no drivers for Windows 11 ARM.

Looking forward to a response.
