Hi there, I have done a PCM firmware update on my 2010 F150, successfully activated cruise control in the PCM VID modification section, but I still am unable to activate Cruise control using the steering wheel buttons.
I have tried to update the GEM module firmware, thinking maybe it is the issue but I can't update it as it fails to download one of the files.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

Re: Trying to update GEM Module Firmware 2010 F150
Worth noting that the interior and control modules for the interior (radio, hvac, etc. ) is from a 2009 F150 5.4
My truck was a 2010 F150 XL, whole interior is off a 2009 F150 FX4.
Had some wiring issues at first as those two years don't share all the same wiring for things such as heated mirrors etc. off the fuse panels
But everything works, except cruise control. I had suspected I would need to get someone to program it using IDS or some ford tool but with this version of the Beta, in theory, it should work.
I'm confused as to what I can do to make it all work, as now the only mismatched VIN i have is for the RCM. I think I used to have mismatched VINs on multiple modules but forscan isn't reading that anymore.
Mileage is correct on IC as I kept my cluster from the XL.
Cruise control light turns on when testing the cluster, but will not activate on the truck while running etc.

Re: Trying to update GEM Module Firmware 2010 F150
Not sure if this helps - check out this post - it refers to an issue setting up cruise... some models don't have it within the PCM you have to add it
How are you guys?

I guess you have to wait until Beta 12.
There the VID Block issue was fixed onto a focus 2012 MK2.5
The Mustang 2007 is very similar to these kind of vehicles.
So it may be that this will work for Mustang too.
If you wrote this after reading my PCM Update+CC activation post
So, my question for Lethal51 is: Do you want to flash a new firmware, or you want to perform changes in VID Block module configuration?
It seems that in both cases you will need MFU.
Just for advice, Support Team did a great job answering all my doubts. Do not hesitate on reaching them.

I only have to say that they are not necessarily similar PCMs. Both indeed have VID Block "arquitecture", but there´s a mayor difference: Mine does not require firmware flashing to make desired changes. In other Ford Focus MK2.5 in order to active CC in PCM, you had to load a new firmware with CC enabled. In my case, just made the changes in "easy mode" with drop down menu.I'm creating this post because I want to perform 2 changes on my PCM module on my Ford Focus MK2.5 (2.0 Duratec) 2012 (MY2010), manufactured in Argentina.
Changes are:
1.- Activate Cruise Control.
2.- Update PCM Firmware to the lastest version (this version solves throttle pedal lag isse, which is awful in my car).
I have a VLinker FS USB, paid extended license, and already donwload SBL and Calibration from Fordtechservice.dealerconnection.com. I have also already read all guidelines and best practices in the forum and also made some research on results from other people with similar cases.
Have backed up AsBuilt and profile too.
But the main reason for me to write is to get some feedback from you guys, in case someone was in the same boat before. As you can see in images attached, im pretending to update from Calibration HE to HF, a ME1702 Bosch PCM.
- Has anyone had any issues with this particular PCM/vehicle?
- Is there any walk-around I should know?
- How secure is flashing the latest firmware by this means?
Update and closure.
I was able to activate Cruise on GEM, IP and PCM. Despite PCM being a VID Block type, It was not necessary to reflash firmware with changes. All was done on the "Easy mode" with drop down menu. Cruise works great.
As for MFU, I did update today to the latest calibration available (AM55-12A650-HF) for the Bosch ME17.0.2 PCM and the process was quick and smooth. Cleared DTC and engine runs fine. Going for a ride now.
During the process I cleared doubts regarding SBL and Firmware with FORScan Support Team, whom I'm really gratefull for their orientation and kind support, since they also provided with a 2.4.12 Testbuild that corrected a checksum on PCM VID Block about Axle and wheel size reading (As you can see in my previous comments they appeard as "Incorrect value or not configured").
Greetings from Argentina.

Re: Trying to update GEM Module Firmware 2010 F150
Turns out when I did all these steps it was successful, I was trying to set the cruise but it wouldn't enable itself. Fast forward to today it worksbotus wrote: Sun Apr 07, 2024 10:24 am Not sure if this helps - check out this post - it refers to an issue setting up cruise... some models don't have it within the PCM you have to add it
