2010 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 2x4
I recently purchased a used ECM, only to find out it's designed for a 4x4 Explorer, while mine is a 2x4. I'm wondering if flashing the PCM firmware is worth trying, and if anyone has successfully done this.
I've been experiencing limp mode issues but may have resolved them by reseating connectors and cleaning the PCM wiring harness. I initially suspected this problem might be related to the PCM program mismatch, as the 4x4 feature can't be changed without re-flashing the PCM firmware.
