If PATS Programming is available in the module Service procedures menu it is known working for the vehicle(Would not be there if not Known to work)!
The FORScan OnLine PATS version does require the PAID one year license for access to the OnIne web based OutCode/InCode calculator!
Be advised that each PAID license allows only two separate VIN numbers to be PATS programmed!
This only affects PATS programming not any other FORScan Licensed operation(The Ranger line was one of the first to receive the FORScan Paid online PATS, The Online PATS is still experimental and being worked on and not available yet for some model lines reportedly the Fiesta)

If you have trouble, contact FORScan using the" Providing FORScan Debug information" instructions here: https://forscan.org/contactus.html

That was predictable if you just plugged a used PCM into this vehicle without any programming! The PCM will be showing the vehicle VIn from the vehicle that the PCM was original installed on!

If this has a VID block, it should show as programmable under the PCM Programming Firmware update in FORScan 2.4.14Beta! This process and the PATS programming will require a Paid FORScan Licence!

In this 2017MY vehicle the VIN is likely to be Hex coded in the PCM Asbuilt data!

The easiest way in this case would be to open the Configuration and Programming(AsBuilt Format) for the PCM and use the "Load Factory AB" button! This will require a connection to the web while in the vehicle or a prior download of the vehicles original AsBuilt file from Motorcraft.com! Try this link and have your original VIN handy: https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt!

If you have not been to Motorcraft.com before you will have to go to the home page and select a North American country and the language and the find the Asbuilt site under "Site Features"!

If the original PCM is readable it would have been even easier to Back Up the original PCM AsBuilt configuration to a File with the Save/Backup button and then install the Replacement PCM and the use the Restore From a backup button! Both of these processes are available to a trial licence!

Until you deal with that PCM VIN Mismatch the PATS Parameter/Initialisation will not be able to complete even if it is available!

Hope that was of some help?

Hello friend, how are you?
Were you able to edit the VIN in the Ford Ranger PCM?
I am facing the same problem.
My PCM is SID209.
I just need to edit the VIN.
The car is working normally.

Hi all I did was earse all keys then reprogram 2 & did module initialization all procedures went well with success but I didn't start the vehicle because it had transmission removed at that time..the vehicle is still at workshop waiting for some spares..so I don't remember doing anything with vin...I will only know when transmission is on & we try to start the engine

So my fingers are crossed until then
